We made it…

Interesting little video… ๐Ÿ™‚

And yes, we DID make it; in spite of those who say we all should have died because we were STOOPID and doing it RONG…ย

Sigh…ย

And in other news…

It was pretty much that kind of day yesterday…

  1. Yeah, how the hell DID we survive? The one about watching the dog chase his tail had me squirting coffee all over the ‘puter ’cause I have found myself doing the self same thing! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving day or two. CIAO!

  2. We made it, yes. We survived (mostly) intact, and grew up to have our kids do it again.

But, Ed, my grandparents (born in the 1900s and 1910s), my parents (1930s) my wife and I (1950s) and our kids (1970s and 80s) all are to blame for the current state of this formerly great country. My wife and I have tried to stop it, as has our son. But it’s still our responsibility. It happened on our watch.

I don’t know how, or if, it can be fixed. But I, and every other American past and present, did make it.

  3. Ev- Good question… And I did!

Ed- Nope we sure as hell didn’t make that mess, WE cleaned up after ourselves…

Don- Excellent point Don, and I don’t have a good answer…

  4. We are saddened & diminished by the fact that our children (and theirs, eventually) will never know the childhood that we and previous generations enjoyed.

  5. I remember one Christmas we spent the afternoon watching my 3 year old grandson play with his toys…two sets of grandparents, the parents and we all sat there watching…for four hours. We didn’t notice the time until it got dark in the room.

  6. Opus- I ‘know’ you’re not old enough to remember that ๐Ÿ™‚ And thanks for the link!

    Rev- Yep! dammit…

Crucis- Well, ‘that’ is a tad different ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Yep, I enjoyed those days! Weekends tromping through the woods, late nights building snow forts, rode my bike from one end of town to the other. The biggest threat any adult could say was “I’ll call your mother” and that may well be after they had given me a well deserved smack on the but. I built forts in trees, along local creeks, in the middle of wheat fields. I sat in awe of Shepard, Grissim, Glenn and those that followed.

The amount we have lost is simply breathtaking . . . . .

  8. I tell my grandkids about growing up in the 40′,50’s and early 60’s and they just roll their eyes and go back to the computer game. I would love to go back to an easier time of life.

  9. eia/CP- Yep, a different world, and folks today don’t WANT to allow their children to experience it…

  10. Brings back lots of memories.

Remember when a skateboard was made by nailing and actual roller skate to the bottom of a board? My first one was a skate nailed to part of an old sign. And I fell on my butt more times than I can count.

Played street football during a hurricane. We went inside when the rain got hard, but it was a good day for a passing offense.

    Still here.
