Mini-meet…

Got a chance to have dinner with Julie and family tonight, and shooting buddy; along with Tarb, who was able to make it to dinner.  Ironically, Tarb had never met Julie and family until tonight.

As always, the conversations veered wildly from place to place and thing to thing, and I got a brownie for dessert!  And it was GOOD too!!! 🙂  And the young ladies are starting to learn how to drive, and those stories were hilarious!  Due to oldest daughter’s getting accepted early for high school, Julie et al will not be able to make it to the States next year; but the trade off of a full ride HS scholarship is not something to be sneezed at down here.   The girls are growing into young ladies, and Julie and hubby better start loading the shotgun! 🙂

Frankly, I’m just amazed at all the crap these folks have to go through to own, much less shoot guns.  And irony of ironies, .22 is actually CHEAPER here than it is in the states!  $6/50 for .22LR!

Due to it being a school night/work night the evening ended early, but fun was had and good food eaten!  Thanks for the hosting lady!!!

  1. I have made quiet a few friends from down under. They come up for our Navy reunions and are damn good people. Or I think they are… I can’t understand half what they say, but they seem happy saying it so I laugh with them. Actually I love the Aussies.

  2. Rev- Yeah, pretty much… 🙂

    CP- LOL, understanding is the square root of the number of beers consumed… At least in my experience… 😀

  3. It was wonderful to see you again Jim. Thanks for getting Tarb and me to finally meet (we had spoken about catching up but never actually got there). I think we all would have loved to sit around talking for a few more hours but such is life.

    You REALLY DO have to spend longer here next time (and give me more than a day’s warning that you’re coming!).

    Travel safe!

  4. Oooh, envy! Sounds like a lovely time!

    I swear you have the fullest dance card of anyone I’ve ever seen. At ten cents a dance, you’d have millions!

  5. Hey Old NFO;

    Maybe you can ship some of that .22LR back in checked baggage or something. Depending on the rules of the airline. otoh..I am not sure what U.S. customs will say. The rules have changed since I traveled overseas.

  6. Skul, the scope issue was that I actually needed one 🙂 We had actually purchased some prior to Jim’s visit but I’ve not managed to get to the farm to try it out yet.
    Will blog when I do (probably 2-3 weeks 🙁 )
