Back in Battery…

I’m ‘really’ beginning beginning to get tired of folks that “overshare”…

Coming back last night on the airplane, the 30something behind us was sharing her life/frustrations/hopes/dreams damn near everything but her bowel movement, periods and sexual proclivities with her seatmate, and everybody within two rows…

dear karma

My seatmate was a Texas lady in her 50s and she was rolling her eyes for most of the flight, in addition to a couple of the little bottles of wine to drown out the spew from the seat behind us…

When we finally got into Dulles and to the gate, as we were unloading, the nice lady next to me ‘unloaded’ on the 30something with words to the effect of, “Honey, if you shared a little less and didn’t spread it, or anything else as wide as you have tonight, you just might have better luck in life.”  All delivered in a honeyed Texas twang…

I damn near pissed my pants trying to keep from laughing…

And Aaron has the monthly gun giveaways up HERE.

  1. Great story. Shame that so fewer and fewer folks have an “indoor voice”. Especially in such a small public place. Just wait till the time they can make cell phone calls inflight. That’ll be just… Wonderful.

And once again, our paths crossed. Arrived at DFW yesterday, will be spending the week out here. Drat!

  2. Luckily, my flight time is very limited, but I hear what you are saying – what is it about jet travel that has side effect of people just talking and talking and talking …

Hey – seen that new Remington R51 semi-auto. An EDC 9mm carry gun, that looks interesting and isn’t priced in the stratosphere either. A bit ‘interesting’ in appearance but this one bears some looking at.

  3. Would have been worth hearing the minutiae just to see the other lady put her in her place! LOL

  4. This is what hearing protection is for. I always keep foam plugs in my purse. Particularly handy on an airplane.

  5. The cell phone conversations before take-off and after landing with a voice at 120 dB drive me nuts. I avoid the conversations with the strange folks by burying my head in a book and putting on iPod and headphones.

  6. So happy to be out of the airline travel for business grind. Young lady sounds like one of my son’s off again/on again fiancee.

  7. Allowing cell phone use in-flight will make this SO much better…

Friend of mine was commuting by train for several weeks. He set behind the same couple guys every day and overheard their should-have-been-quieter conversations. The one had come back from a conference trip with a little souvenir that required treatment. He was trying to figure out how to tell his wife. Charlie had to quit riding the train before he found out what happened when he told the wife.

  8. WN- Damn, we need to coordinate skeds better!!!

Robert- True, but… Not the way I work.

j.r.- We were talking about that this weekend! A lot like the OLD Remington 51 🙂

Jenn- Brightened my whole flight it did! 😀

    Opus/Rev- True…

Gerry- Didn’t drag mine out, should have…

    Ed- Good point!

    WSF- LOL

PH- Hehehe… Too bad HE couldn’t let the wife know ahead of the hubby…

  9. When I used to ride the bus to work, I’d run into other passengers like that. I’d take notes then blog their business, including their names and cell numbers if they were dumb enough to speak them loudly enough for me to overhear.

Hey, if they want to make their private lives public, who am I not to help?
