Note to self…

Stay the f**k out of DC… Period…

If it ain’t the FEMS screwups, it’s the cops and rabid prosecution of ANYBODY with anything resembling a gun, or now a bullet for a muzzle loader…

The Mark Witaschek case just keeps getting stranger and stranger…

On March 26, Mr. Witaschek was convicted by Judge Robert Morin for “attempted unlawful possession of ammunition” for the box of copper and lead pieces that go in an antique-replica muzzleloader gun.

The judge did not rule on the shotgun shell, which had misfired at a hunt years ago. The District only allows registered gun owners to possess ammunition.

(And you MUST be registered IN the District)… 18 USC Sec 926A does not apply according to DC police and attorneys…

The nation’s capital did not think giving this man a criminal record was enough. At sentencing, Assistant District Attorney Oritsejemine Trouth asked the judge to demand Mr. Witaschek register as a gun offender with the police within 48 hours.

And they still weren’t done. The day after the trial, an agent from the D.C. Office of Tax and Revenue showed up at Mr. Witaschek’s office.

/snip

Ms. Miller asked Mr. Witaschek why he thought this tax investigation suddenly arose.

“I think the police wanted to confiscate my guns from the beginning. They are really angry that I didn’t comply,” the businessman explained. “They will use whatever government resources they choose to get what they wanted — or make me pay. They already used the U.S. attorney, a grand jury, the D.C. attorney general, and now the Office of Tax and Revenue.”

Go read the whole thing HERE on Washington Times.  h/t to Emily Miller for the coverage!

Think about tattoo on forehead- Stay OUT of DC…

Sigh…

  1. I can think of no compelling reason to go to DC these days, though there was a time when I hung out there regularly.

  2. The man is a financial adviser, I believe, and now because of being a “felon” he cannot practice.
It is a persecution, a pogrom, and they have the full arsenal of the “law” on their side.
    “Bielski Brothers”, anyone?

  3. How do you tell the difference between a muzzle-loader round and a fishing sinker or ball bearing, anyway? Is there some special stamp they use over there saying “for firearm use only” or something?

  4. LL- Point…

    MSgt- Agreed, soon!!!

Ed- Good point, not sure if they ‘got’ him on a felony though…

Coconut- These were ‘formed’ with sabots… sigh

  5. I really don’t think things will change much in the United States, until we dig a moat around D.C. and only allow someone to leave, if they agree to take a test on the Bill of Rights and can pass it with a score of at least 85% correct answers.

  6. Bless Emily Miller and the Washington Times. Sunshine is a powerful disinfectant.

Maybe a shaming campaign can be organized. One blogger has been finding and putting up the email addresses of the bastards and those who work for them.

  7. What Jess said, except in reverse. Only allow people (especially congresscritters) to ENTER D.C. if they pass the Bill of Rights test.

  8. I’ve been thinking the same thought since before SCOTUS’ announcement of taking up the Heller case.

Also, completely off topic, I finally did get around to writing a review on “Grey Man” at amazon for ya NFO. Great job.

  9. I heard Emily interviewed on Bill Bennett and she said that his employment was in jeopardy because of the conviction.

  10. Yet another outrage perpetrated by the Federal Government. The conduct of these pigs fits nicely with the Democratic National Convention of 1968.

  11. gfa- True

    Jess- if only!!!

    WSF- Not a bad idea…

Tim- It wouldn’t help, too much corruption IN the beltway…

    JR- Thanks!

    Ed- that it is.

MJ- Hadn’t thought of that, but you’re right…

  12. Might be time to go to the range and pick up some fired bullets and mail them to the workers at the D.C. city offices. One expended 22 or fired bullet is able to be sent with one stamp. If the workers receive them and report to the authorities, it should tie up many for hours for each letter received.
Don’t put the return address of your nearest member of CSGV on the envelope either.
    The address’s are here, http://www.whitepages.com/business?utf8=✓&key=Government+offices&where=Washington%2C+DC
You might have to flatten the case or round so it does not show as a lump. Probably should mail it from a drop box where there are no cameras too.
