WWII Posters…

This one is believed to be attributed to Carl Shreve.

marine 168th WWII

It was done as a 1943 recruiting poster and ‘may’ have been a one off for Mr. Shreve.  Not much is known about him, but apparently he traveled extensively prior to and after WWII doing paintings and articles.

Sorry for the lack of info.

WWII Posters… — 12 Comments

  1. I see posters like that and then remember photos of soldiers; tired, so young they seem like they should be in high school and knowing they were giving all they had in their service to our nation.

I won’t go into politics, but the current Commander in Chief isn’t fit to lick the inside of their shoes.

    • My dad was one of those. Lied about his age and went in the Navy at 16. Years later when it was time to retire it sure raised hell with the social security people.

  2. Mrs.C- Yeah, I saw that too… Strange is right…

    Rev- I looked…

Jess- Good point, and many of them SHOULD have been in high school… sigh

  3. I love those posters. Makes me both nostalgic and pretty damn angry at what’s happened to us.

  4. Great posters Thank-you.

Jess, I will go you one better on the current CIC,
He is not fit to lick the camel dung off our troops boots.
