WWII Posters…

Another one from the ‘civilian’ side.  Sadly I don’t know who did this one, but I kinda like the ‘drama’ of the generic American Serviceman holding the flag on the pole with his bare hands.

War Bonds started in WWI and were used again in WWII to ‘save’ money… I remember my mother and dad having some when I was little, and they were converted to Series E savings bonds.  I also remember putting something like $100 a year into savings bonds for years in the military.

  1. This picture has so much emotion it. Amazing. You see it too. I noticed it then read your description. Some talented artist, right there.
Savings Bonds. I know as I grew up, for what ever reason my parents would give them as gifts for Baptisms, and First Communion gifts. It was a common gift for the era.

  2. This one is beautiful. Savings bonds were often given to us as kids for baptisms, 1st communions, birthdays, and Christmas by our grandparents. Wow, that was a very long time ago…

  3. You missed something.

War bonds were not intended for you to save money. They were intended for you to loan your money to the US Govt so they could buy war supplies and beat the damned Nazis.

The EE bonds are intended so that you loan your money to the government so they can give themselves pay raises and bonuses and then they tax you to pay the interest that they pay you. In the mean time, they will inflate the money supply intentionally so that what they pay you back is not worth as much as the principle you initially “loaned”. Thank you.
