I didn’t know this, but apparently there were also recruiting ‘postcards’… Not just recruiting posters… Here’s one from the Air Corps, I ‘think’ this might have been one of those!
It was one of the last done by Howard C. Christy, also known for the “Christy Girl” illustrations. Apparently there were only 5000 actual posters produced…
It’s at the crash pad so remind next time you are at a blog meet, but I have a book of the 8th Air Force squadrons, including Dads, that has some amazing pictures in it.
Brigid- Will do, thanks!
Whoa! NSFW? Not Safe For War?
He’s got a gorgeous redhead on his arm, and he’s staring at Lady Liberty’s hooters?
+1. 🙂
Ed/Buck- Oops, sorry about that… 😀
I didn’t know about the postcards; cool.
That redhead and flyboy could have been my parents. Mom was a redhead and dad was Army Aircorps.
Rev- I didn’t either…
Euripides- Who knows??? 😀 But that WOULD be a helluva story!
Really great post card! There is a book of thirty called “Army Camp” (covers all the services) on Amazon. Just paging through it was interesting. Wonder if Euripides is related…
Dammit- Isn’t it though! I’ll go look at the Amazon offering.
I learned something new about WW 2 thank-you
