This is simply an amazing story…
It is the story of Louis Zamperini, from his childhood through his running the 1500M at the Olympics, but the real guts of the story is that of he and his pilot surviving ditching their B-24 in the Pacific in WWII, followed by their story as POWs for the rest of the war, his trials and tribulations after the war, and his redemption.

This is truly an impressive true story, and Laura Hillenbrand does a superb job with it. Well researched, documented and very well told.
HIGHLY recommended!
On the list. Thanks for the recommendation. Curtis can’t supply all of my literary needs, and I need to look elsewhere from time to time.
Read this book sometime ago, truly inspiring.

Ed- Thanks! That is one I WILL Pay money to see!
I am always looking for a new read. Thanks for the post.
Audible has a great read of the book. I listened last year driving out to MAG-40 at the Gun Dudes.
We were in Ohio when he passed away a month or so ago. The Columbus Dispatch did some excellent articles on his life. My wife was reading the book, as it happens.
JUGM- It’s WELL worth it!
Phila- Concur, didn’t know about Audible, that’s good news!
Olde- Yep, he was a ‘quiet’ hero… My opinion…
Thanks. After rereading Seabiscuit recently, I’d resolved to read something else she’s written.
JMI- This one is worth the read!
Loved her ‘Seabicuit’. I suppose if I return some of the books I have on loan from a mutual friend he might loan me his copy…
He was a great man. I will have to get that.
It was a fantastic story and an easy read. That book is also the last gift that I got from my father.
That was an outstanding book. I’m looking forward to the movie.
