Buck has crossed the river…
He will be missed. The last post is HERE.
High Flight-
“Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I’ve climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds –
and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of –
wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence.
Hovering there I’ve chased the shouting wind along
and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air.
“Up, up the long delirious burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace,
where never lark, or even eagle, flew;
and, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
the high untrespassed sanctity of space,
put out my hand and touched the face of God.”
RIP Buck, you done good…
God Speed and God Bless – Thank you for your service to our country. I’m glad he passed away surrounded by friends and family.
I remember that prayer quoted in post, hearing it as the 1st T.V. network broadcast when I was waking up as a child. What a memory jolt.
Damn. He was one of the first blogs I started reading, I enjoyed the humor and finding shared beliefs.
R.I.P Buck
That used to be part of the sign-off, along with shots of a lot of military jets, of the local TV station in Billings, Montana way back when we lived there from ’65 to ’80. And I’m sure that wasn’t the only station that showed that clip.
Too bad that isn’t shown today. But, with what is infesting the White House today, it will never happen.
j.r./Scottie- Yep, I remember that too!
NC- He did have an ‘interesting’ take on life. 🙂
Rick- Amen!
Yes. We has a sad…
