Slogging down the road…

450 of 1741 miles down…

All day in the rain yesterday…

There are some just flat ‘strange’ folks out on the roads…

Little old blue hair in a great big Lincoln, a huge guy in a little Ford Fiesta (the steering wheel was just about in his chest), the usual snowbirds heading south, and the normal quota of idjits in vans… Sigh…

11 miles (not that I was counting) of following two semis, one trying to pass the other…

And only two phone calls from the ‘former’ work…LOL

Sorry for the lack of commenting and posting, I’m concentrating on getting home! 🙂

  1. The closer to Texas you get the better the weather gets. Yesterday was bluebird skies with a high near 70. More of the same today.

Plus the semis down here do 75… 🙂

  2. Info from my trucking friends and relatives. Many companies govern their trucks to a certain speed, usually 65 or 70. Seldom will two trucks set to the same speed actually do the same top speed. One tries to pass another with two to three mph differences. Add the many drivers to whom English is a second language and sharing the road ideas are carried over from their own culture and you end up with what you are experiencing. Should add our own home grown a*^holes to the mix.

The answer is enforcement which doesn’t seem to be a priority with many agencies.

Good luck on your trip and enjoy the great roads in Texas. One thing that state does better than any other place I’ve driven.

  3. Stay safe, and get to your new home intact. (Re: driving … we’ve been out of the States for so long that I miss the interstate highways.) Fair winds and a following sea!

  4. Stay safe, let the idiots either go by you or leave them in the dust. Stopping every 2-3 hours helps keep the joints from getting too stiff, and cruise control is one of the top 5 best inventions going IMHO. 🙂

  5. Wednesday, I encountered all that and more, too, just on a 30-mile drive down the Interstate to carry a family member to a medical appointment. I shudder to think what driving 1700+ miles is like these days. Be safe.

  6. get thee to the new house soon and start unpacking. I was finally going to get around to ordering vol 2 and 3 of Grey Man and then you go and move, heh, heh, heh..

  7. Every mile you leave behind you, is one you’ll never have to do again!

Further and further away from “work”, and closer and closer to home! Hope the journey gets more enjoyable as you get out of the east coast crazy, the roads are good, and you make it in good time!

  8. May St. Christopher watch over you. Save travels and a happy and very busy (with what YOU want to do) retirement!

  9. Get over in the right lane and let the A**holes have the rest. You’re in no hurry to meet your maker just yet because of one of them!!!

  10. Remember, when defensive driving no longer works it’s time to go on offense!

    Drive safe!

  11. Welcome HOME. First thing, register to VOTE and apply for your LICENSE TO CARRY! Previous military service should suffice and open carry starts in 2 weeks! You YANKEE Texans need open carry more than us down here by Austintatious.
