I wish…

I had as much energy as grandson #2… Sigh…

TRAINS…

At the California Railroad Museum, in Sacramento since ‘sunny’ California ain’t…

He was amazed at the size of the train(s). And ran from pillar to post, dragging us here and there through the museum…

One of the ‘few’ times he was willing to walk ‘slowly’…

But it was a good day! 🙂

Family time is important!!!

  1. Awwwwwww. That’s a great picture of the two of you! Glad things are working out so well. And traveling for fun, not work. Stay safe. It’s miserable here.

  2. Excellent plan. Early exposure to steam may be critical in turning their lives into the right path.
Looks like fun, though all my ideas for harnessing the energy of the youth have failed.
Philly on Saturday morning is quite the winter wonderland.

  3. Maybe not sunny, but you moved away from the East coast just in time. If he liked the big trains, he would probably love the little ones down at Balboa park in truly sunny California.

  4. A fine looking young man…you must be very proud, and rightfully so.

BTW, I’m very envious of you, for two reasons…you know Brigid personally, and she dedicated a recipe to you. 🙂

  5. I was not much older than your grandson when my mother and I rode the Shasta Daylight from Klamath Falls to Sacramento where my dad met us at the station. I remember stepping off the train and walking by #4294 cab-ahead parked there on display. No doubt afterwards that I was a certifiable train nut. I am drawn to a live steam whistle like a moth to a candle. Later in life, got to take my kids to the museum and up into the #4294’s cab.

  6. I’m not a “train guy,” and, that is an excellent museum, for young or…not so young…

  7. WN- My butt is still draggin this morning… Y’all stay safe!

John- Thanks, glad y’all are okay up there!

6shots- That will be another trip later… Sigh

WSF- Oh yeah… that he did!

GR6- Life is funny sometimes… I consider myself lucky to have reconnected with her.

    Ed- That he is!

RHT- #4294 cab-ahead is still there, and we visited it yesterday too!

    Rev- We had fun!

Charles- That it was, and I’ve enjoyed it and so did the girls! 🙂

  8. You found about the one thing that is actually GOOD about Sacramento. I am a member of that museum and they have an OUTSTANDING collection of historical railroad items. You have to admit, that cab-forward steam locomotive is MASSIVELY impressive. And just massive.

Glad to see you and your grandson enjoyed it. And it’s GREAT that you’re giving your grandson an appreciation for the railroads, trains and HISTORY.

  9. Love the pictures!! So glad you’re spending time with your family and trains are the best.

  10. I love that museum. A block away, there is a Tran layout in a basement that has scenes from all over California. It’s really nice too.

  11. Stretch- Nice, thanks!

    MC/Jenn/Grog- Thanks, it was fun!

    Steve- Didn’t know that… sigh

    • I just looked it up. It was called the “Underground Railroad” and it closed down several years ago. Too bad, it was very well done.

  12. Such a great train museum, and when the weather is warmer you can take him on the Zephyr & Skunk! Jace is a cutie, you are blessed!

  13. They were too cute together! Watching both of the enjoy the trains will be a cherished memory for me.
