And the irony?

They are ALL still viable products today! Matter of fact, if you have one of those original Gillette Safety Razors and an original pack of blades, they are worth some money. 🙂

  1. Ha. Those are great. I am thinking it quite dangerous to put the babies in cellophane, however.

  2. The Gillette “Safety” razor I knew and used. Unfortunately.

  3. Hey, up until a couple of years ago, I was still shaving with the Gillette safety razor that my grandpa bought the day I was born. In his haste to get to the hospital, he dropped his razor and warped the head, so on his way into town, he stopped at the Piggly-Wiggly supermarket, picked up another one, and stopped at his brother’s house to shave, before going to see his newest grandson. Grandma gave me the razor when he passed away, and told me the story.

Unfortunately, I did the same thing he did, dropped it onto a hard surface and warped the head. Still have it, but it’s tantamount to suicide to use it now. But I had all those blades, so I bought another double-edge razor, and that’s what I still shave with.

  4. For some reason, the images are not appearing for me. Is it just me? Oh no, I’ve been struck (selectively) blind!!!
P.S. The verification keeps asking me to select the photos with street signs, then shows no street signs–just yield & stop signs, & the like. I know you have no control over it, OldNFO–it’s just annoying. Street signs have street names on them. Road signs, now….

  5. Fargo- Point…LOL

Bob- And the styptic pencil too, right?

    WSF- Yep!

    Jenn- 🙂

RS- I have one around here somewhere, but I haven’t used it for years…

Ed- Yep! 1903, best I can tell!

TB- Sorry about that. Maybe a browser issue?

  6. Yep, the styptic pencil was required. That or a piece(es) of toilet paper.

    • OldNFO- Didn’t it come in that smallish canvas bag that held the shaving and shower gear. Of course that gear was soon replaced with emergency supplies of cigarettes a flask of snake bite medicine.
