BTW Old NFO, when I checked into 11th Marines, (the 1stMarDiv’s field artillery regiment), per the big red board, one of the units had a CO named Cannon, and the senior enlisted man was named Gunn.

I have felt that America lost something when judges had to stop the “You have two choices, the Marines and no record or Jail and a permanent record.” I have met some of these judicial marines, so to speak, and they all say that the judge’s choice was the best decision they ever made.
Now, according to SNAFU, there is discussion on sizing the MC down to 150K total, with emphasis on sea duty again. Will be interesting to see where this is all going.

Not only do you learn how to dress for work, learn new skills, get lots of nutrition and exercise, a Marine gets to travel all over the world! And get paid, sometimes tax-free for the privilege!
