Year in review…

Well, I have my health, ‘most’ of my mental facilities, and I’ve got some writing done.

Two novellas published, one full length novel published, a short story published in an anthology, and another submitted for another anthology.

NOT as much as I’d like to have done, my goal was two books this year, but that didn’t happen.

I truly appreciate my readers and those who give me reviews, both on Amazon and personally via email. I’d also like to give a shout out to my alpha and beta readers, you folks have truly made my novels better through your attention to detail, and the myriad of your experience.

And I cannot fail to mention both Tina and Steph who do the covers and final edits. You ladies have bailed me out from my own stupidity every time and there is no way I can thank you enough for your patience and understanding!!!

It has been an interesting year travel wise, got to two writer’s conferences and was honored to be a panelist on various panels at both of them. I know I’m not an alpha list author, but I DO try to give back to the writing community. If I tell you my mistakes, maybe you won’t repeat them and be a step further along the ladder than I was. I am also thankful for our local groups that get together and bat ideas back and forth. Some of those have turned into ‘something’ at least part of the time.

One of the bigger ‘negatives’ this year is Farcebook… It’s a helluva time sink, and I’m trying to stay off of it most of the day, only occasionally checking it AFTER I finish writing.

On the political side, all I can say is TEH STOOPID IT SHOULD BURN!!! Gah… We elected these assholes??? What were we thinking?

But I have my health. As I get older, the creaks and pops increase and I find that I’m missing all those naps I turned down as a kid. Sadly, I’ve lost a few friends this year who have passed on mainly due to age/illness.

As 2019 comes to an end, I just want to wish everyone the best for 2020, may you be healthy and successful, and 2020 be a better year for us all. I’ll leave you with this-

Year in review… — 12 Comments

  1. Yeah, I remember when naps were considered a punishment when I was a kid. Now, I eat a meal and an hour later dang near pass out if I’m seated and relaxing. About 20 minutes or so, then I slowly wake up.

  2. I’m glad you’re around and I’m happy to call you friend. Two books a year is an ambitious mark. I think that you’re doing very well.

  3. I didn’t even know that Google Translate included Latin.
So, “Si Te Legisse Scribis I.”
I typed, If you write, I will read.
Those who actually know Latin may wish to correct Google.

    Thank you for your writing.

  4. To have your health and mental facilities more or less intact is a true blessing!!

To have written a full length book as well as 2 more short ones, plus some stories is a real accomplishment! Especially since you do the research, and try your best to be as accurate as possible. It all takes time. But the end results absolutely justify the effort.

Your stories are all a pleasure to read, with lifelike characters, good and bad, and a story line that sucks the reader in and wont let go, even after the last page is turned. That is a true and very rare quality. That you have continued to polish that skill set shows in how read-able your stories have continued to progress.

So, like John, if you write them I will continue to buy them. And, yes, I make sure I do my homework by leaving a review, as well as continue to pester friends and family to read this guy…he writes good stuff!!

Having said all that…nudge the Muse, I really like what she is having you write with Danny and Essie!! I want more, please 🙂

  5. Your last comment may turn out to be what passes for my New Year resolution.

To you, those you care for and the other visitors here, I wish you all a peaceful New Year.

  6. Sounds like a good year.
You were productive and left a legacy.
Your books brought enjoyment to many and employment to some.
    Job well done!

  7. The number of friends and acquaintances dying, or getting deadly sick around me shakes me to my core. One of the guys I flew EMS with, about my age and seemingly healthy, died in his sleep two months ago. My bro-in-law is dying as we speak from being poisoned by the Camp LeJeune water supply back in the mid ’60’s.
And I fear this will accelerate.
Stop the world. I want off this ride.

  8. Been great reading your stories and good seeing you in person. I’m impressed by your creativity and ambition. Concur about politics. Hope 2020 is a terrific year for you and all the commenters at this blog, and may we get a couple of 2A wins at the Supreme Court! And an opportunity to replace RBG on that court.
