Welp, it’s starting…

The pushback is definitely starting…

Some governors are going further and further into their power trips, pushing more and more restrictions, and people are tired of it. HERE is a vid from Raleigh, NC. Also, people are tired of being told by people living in metro areas than rural areas ‘need to self- quarantine’… When there are less than 25 people per square MILE in a lot of these areas because they are farmers and ranchers. Working on a farm or ranch is pretty much the definition of social distancing…

It looks like roughly twenty states are ready to get on with life, and drop the stay at home requirements. It’s not the Fed’s call, it does default to the states, but the Administration has said they will support the state’s decisions, which is as it should be.

And some reports are coming out that China knew for 6 weeks about the WuFlu and didn’t tell anyone because of trade agreements… Grrr…

Re the numbers on the WuFlu, there does appear to be a lot of ‘fudge factoring’ going on world-wide. Honestly, I don’t know that we will ever know the truth…

Which brings to mind Mark Twain’s infamous quote…

I watch the Our World in Data site, and they are honest about what they know and don’t know, HERE.

Another thing to note is the ‘lack’ of utilization of Comfort and Mercy. I ‘think’ between the two, they have maybe 50 patients. Part of that is the fact that they are not taking WuFlu patients because they are not set up for isolation wards.

Funny how, if you believe the NY Times, people are dying in the hallways, can’t get a ventilator, etc… Yet, Cuomo says there are adequate numbers of both beds and ventilators…

Everybody needs to take care of themselves and not worry about things outside our control. We’re not in charge, nothing we can do will change that, and no amount of hysterics is going to change things either…

  1. As usual, you hit the mark.

Things are close to returning to normal. Maybe another two weeks of this hassle and places such as those where you and I live will get back to living.

The (corrupt, lying) mainstream media has retained its reputation for being nothing more than a component of the Democrat Party.

There is a reason why Donald Trump was elected president rather than one of a large field of political operatives who also wanted the job. It created a panic in the swamp that is still there, hoping that he doesn’t stay in office for four more years.

  2. I’m hoping that Kansas will be one of those states though I’m not counting on it since we have a donkey for a governor. Interestingly the nine(out of 105) counties that elected her have 1053 of the 1426 cases in the state. Karma maybe?

    • Maybe we should be calling it the “Democrat Disease” since it seems to heavily favor Democrat-infested polities…

  3. As a resident of Raleigh, I was dismayed to see the actions of the local police in following the Dem governor’s decree that protesting is non-essential activity and not allowed, etc. Sorry, but all constitutionally protected rights, such as the right to peaceably assemble, do not evaporate in times of declared emergency. Another Dem governor tried that with Second Amendment rights tried that a few years ago and got slapped down by the courts. I only hope saner heads prevail, or courts do.

It will be interesting to see how things go in Lansing today with the planned protests against ‘That Woman’ and her tyrannical policies.

I could on about Cuomo, Sisolak, Northam, Newsome, et al.

Why are all these idiot governors from the same party?

Make sure you and all your friends VOTE!

  4. As a math guy I was most taken by the comment I saw that said “when you don’t know the numerator or the denominator with any degree of accuracy, your fractions are pretty much meaningless”.

I have friends who are planning on opening their businesses this week, with appropriate precautions. IMHO they could have been open the whole time with the same precautions. Now they will either get a check from Daddy Gov to stay in business or maybe not make it.

I never did shut my business down because screw them, but it is a second income for me. It was slow because people didn’t have money to spend but that’s OK. I live on my first.

I suspect that this will not change much of anything politically. The people who would have been elected will be elected. Virginia will become a leftist hellhole now that the D party has passed legislation to ensure that no one can check up on their voters; many of the little dictators, having had a taste of power, will attempt to maintain that power and the people will not notice, being so grateful to be at least partially unchained.

  5. I am hoping for an armed insurrection against Lansing.
As for who leads the dance, Trump knows the Dem Govs (who were screaming for help and happy for Trump’s leadership) will drag their feet.
They can’t let him look presidential and allow him to lead.
It looks petty for them to have left him out of their discussion.

  6. Here in Montana we have 399 cases in the state almost half of those have recovered. We have had 7 deaths in 29 of 56 counties. All those counties have large for the state cities. It makes NO SENSE to keep the entire state locked down. One of the local grocery stores has enacted a limited number of customers in the store policy. What are they going to do about those customers waiting to get in the store? And the customers are supposed to be at least one shopping cart away from other customers. Question, is that the length or the width of the cart? Are the aisles going to widened? Check stands are not six feet a part? What are you going to do about them? Another ill-conceived feel good corporate policy that lacks common sense. BTW the Air force base commissary was using every other check-stand last week and tape on the floor.

  7. Hey Old NFO;

The Push-back is starting, the people are starting to get grumpy and some of the governors(Michigan for example) don’t have the common sense God gave a stump, her edicts are inconsistent and draconian and people are getting pissy. Some of these governors like the extra powers and these wannabe tyrants will be difficult in the future to deal with.

  8. I have been as busy as ever and getting more so. The resistance you are seeing is also spilling over into other areas including our innate inventiveness.
People forced into a change of life encounter new problems, and we are NOT content to just ‘put up with’ inconveniences forever. As the historical record shoes (from 1790-present) I believe that in this nation still dwell THE most creative and relentlessly PERSISTENT and people on the planet, and our system lets this come out to the fore especially in trying times. For everyone who says ‘if only “they” made a (thingie, adaptor, SOLUTION)’ about 1% realize that ‘that they is ME.’ Those to me are ‘the real 1%-ers,’ not content to leave life as it is and just do as they are told. I am seeing it in my business and I wanted to pass along this un-reported good news to our gracious host OldNFO and the fans here.
“If you can solve a 50-cent problem 100 million people have about twice a week, you are in position to make a substantial fortune.”

  9. This country is closer to an armed insurrection than ever before. I didn’t think I would live to see it but it is on our doorstep. Some comments I have made on various “news” articles last day or so.

Ref the released prisoner in Fl that killed someone the next day:
Some of my shipmates may not like my comparison here but it seems to me appropriate. Prisons, which by definition control access and separate the prisoners from the general public would SEEM to this simple minded person to be able to “sterilize’ the prisoners from the outside world and chance of infection from Covid. As an example of “sterilizing” a population from infection I present the Harry S Truman battle group that has returned from deployment and is not permitted to return to port. The battle group is tooling around in the VaCapes OpArea that they can remain Covid free and ready to redeploy! Am I so simple that only I can see the degree of insanity these examples government gone nuts are?

Ref Oprah upset about the disproportionate number of people of color being affected by Covid:
So Oprah and other “Leaders of the Black community” are concerned about the disproportionate numbers of Blacks affected by Covid, How about they become concerned about the disproportionate number of Blacks that Planned Parenthood kill. I guess since that doesn’t fit the political narrative they espouse.

Ref the Governor of S.D. enforcing “mandatory” shutdowns
Right or wrong politically, she is one of the VERY FEW politicians that seems to be obeying the portion of her oath that is along the lines of “Preserve and Protect the Constitution”

    Ref the NC Protests:
Had they been dressed in black with balaclava’s over their faces stomping on the flag, looting and burning it would be protected speech. DOES ANYONE realize how close this country is to flushing the Constitution down the crapper and the outbreak of a civil war?

    • Or the disproportionate numbers of Blacks killed by Blacks.

Or of Hate Crimes committed against other Races by Blacks versus Hate crimes against Blacks?

Or the disproportionate numbers of Whites killed by Blacks, versus Blacks killed by Whites.

Oprah is full of schiff. Has been, always will be.

  10. Yeah, I’m really disappointed in our Governor. He lacks the manhood he spouted so much when he was the State attorney, now more of a political hack. It’s time to move on with our lives, they have no idea what level of infections will be acceptable in order to get back to business, they have no plan at all it appears.

  11. All- Thanks for the comments and perspectives… Glad I’m NOT the only one!

    Posted from my iPhone.

  12. I also have noticed that it took a complete shut-down of the state of Virginia for Northam and all his pals to pass all of the ‘Becoming California’ laws that they didn’t pass while armed citizens were protesting.

What’s that phrase the Dems and other Leftists love? “Never let a crisis go to waste.”

Virginians better get their stuff together and get ready to storm the state house.

  13. USNS Mercy and Comfort were not supposed to be used for Kung Flu patients. Even still, both of them are far below capacity. The Javits center is at maybe 10% of capacity. An Army hospital sent to Seattle was pulled back because there were no patients for them to help. NYF’nC might be pandemic central, but the rest of the country is not New York F’n City, so why the hell are we treating it in the same fashion?

  14. Sam C stopped with 3 lies because he had never heard of ‘fake news’ 😉
Best comment I’ve seen regarding Lansing is the advice to them to say they are all going to buy liquor and/or lottery tickets since the guv’nor says those acts are essential……………

  15. My MI daughter says “You elected a liberal and now you’re mad because she acts like a liberal?”

And despite what Justice, Hogan, and Northam order, I cross back and forth between our states almost daily to hike. And I don’t self-quaranteen after.

  16. All- Thanks for filling in the blanks. PH- You’re just a rebel… LOL

    Posted from my iPhone.

  17. I noticed that the cops in Raleigh aren’t wearing face masks. That means they’re not concerned about public health. They’re just there to enforce obedience.

    • Shiny lightning-bolt insignia are next.

My local PD already went to the black uniforms and jackboots.
