And… Here they go…

Sigh…

Trudeau’s invocation of the Emergencies Act was supposed to be temporary as well, but on Friday, Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland announced the Trudeau regime’s intention to make some of their new authoritarian powers permanent. This, my friend, is how democracies die.

Full article, HERE from PJ Media.
I’m really not sure how this would impact sites like GSG, since they are not Canadian and do not fall under Canada’s fiscal laws. But I have a feeling we are going to find out!
And this will not be for the better. This should give one pause, as they are going after ALL types of transactions. This is one of the downsides of ‘electronic’ $$$. Easy to track transactions, etc.
I remember when Spain converted from Pesetas to the Euro. If I remember correctly, something like $300,000,000 ‘extra’ Pesetas got turned in from the underground/black market economy, much of which the Spanish government tried to tax…
And here in the US, we have people buying silver and gold (and lead and brass, some assembly required), as a hedge against an electronic economy, which is what the left truly wants.
If they were to get that, they would have total control of not only the economy, but ALL of our financial assets and the ability to stop any payment, take any amount of taxes from your savings, 401K, or anything else in the bank.
There are countries that seem to be pushing toward that, like Australia and New Zealand, but I have no idea how effective or not, it has been. And China has been using ‘social currency’ to determine/impact Chinese citizen’s lives for what, three, four years now?

And… Here they go… — 20 Comments

  1. Invest in gold, silver, and most importantly iron, lead, brass, and gunpowder. I would suggest buying some well sealed water proof containers for the iron, lead, brass, and gunpowder so you can bury them. First they take the guns and ammo then everything else. The 4th Reich is on the march. Hitler would be proud of what Klaus Schwab and his Nazi agents are doing.

    • How are you going to access your buried stash from the gulag?

      • At least it would still be there waiting for you, or you could pass the location on to someone else, as opposed to the “electronic money” that vanished as soon as you got caught in the meat grinder.

  2. Agree with thoughts of tangibles. Items you are required to have regardless of how the economy is doing or what political regime happens to be. Having the means to buy them becomes less important if they are already in your possession. Vital medications being very important.

Events are changing extremely quickly. The past 2 years have wrought some major differences.

  3. PJ Media is simply incorrect to be talking up ‘Democracy’.

Democracies, as opposed to Republics, are relatively bad things.

It would have been Democracy to hang congress, if a large enough crowd did the hanging.

Canada was nominally a constitutional monarchy.

Such systems do not work well when evil monarchs line up with evil politicians. Anything think Chuckles the Whale has a problem with what Shiny Pony is up to?

Deep in the weeds of philosophy, money, whatever it actually is, is /not/ infinitely malleable to political whim. The value requires a population, and for people to be willing to use it in transactions. They may be trying to steal all of the money, but they think it will hold some value afterwards.

Some of them are definitely nuts enough that for them, it is about destroying what you have to hurt you, not about collecting stuff for themselves.

    • PJW puts men’s junk in his mouth. If you listen to him you are being led astray. I don’t listen to sodomites.

  4. As several countries have discovered, electronic transactions only work so far; push them for everything and the system starts failing.

The big concern is that the Canadian.gov is essentially declaring any action, and any actor, they don’t like to be a terrorist and punishing them without judicial review
Note that the few people who were arrested have been charged with fostering mischief – much like January 6, where most of the charges have been for trespassing.

  5. All of this really shouldn’t surprise anyone who actually reads history. The automatic reaction of anyone who is convinced that they are right and others can’t possibly be is to seize power, and the best way to do that — starting with ancient Greece and on through the modern day, via the French Revolution, is to mobilise a mob to democratically elect you to do that. Keep in mind that a democracy, unlike a republic, has no check to the mob. If you can once convince them at some moment in time that they should do what you want them to do, you are in (until, of course, some other mob comes and eliminates you… again, see the French Revolution or, for that matter, the Russian transition from the Tsars to Stalin).

These United States are not free of that tendency — the Puritan society of Boston was a mob supported dictatorship, if looked at honestly, and the War of Aggression on the Confederacy was inspired by a northern mob (amazing how different that period looks, when you try different points of view).

In Canada, at the moment, we are looking at a left wing mob — almost entirely confined to Toronto and vicinity, and Vancouver — trying to take over the whole country. In the US, we are looking at a left wing mob, confined to the coasts and a few big interior cities) with the same objective.

Be interesting to see how it works out…

  6. As a Canadian I am appalled by the upcoming vote to enact the Emergency act when it appears to be the act of a Prime Minister who is losing control of his party, Cdns no longer accept the BS coming out of Ottawa…this attempt by a PM to retain control at all costs.

People much smarter than me claim the requirements to enact this Act, as included in the Act, have not been met. I’ve read the Act and from what I can understand I think they are correct.

Believe it of not the the children of protesters were threatened by authorities (Child and family Services) and then they threatened their pets – I sh!t you not.

Now the Trudeau government has decided to seize citizens financial assets for anyone engaging in what has now been declared (retroactively) as supporting terrorism (I.E. donating to GoFundme or equivalent). Hypothetically a $20 GoFundMe donation can get your financial assets seized and be the recipient of supporting terrorism charges. When asked the attorney general did not rule this out. Understand this: As I understand it from mainline media reporting it is now the RCMP who “suggest” to lending institutions whose account(s) to seize and the banks go ahead and do it. Plus they are totally indemnified…..there is no recourse, no timeline on how long this seizure goes for – permanent seizure? Can you imagine having a p!ssed off ex-spouse in the banking industry who can now seize your financial assets and they are golden from any repercussions. Media reported last Friday a couple of bank branches ran out of cash.

Tonight when the Act gets approval by the Trudeau Liberals and the NDP party (both leftists)…. under section 19 of the act they can immediately start issuing more restrictions. As both parties are for the most part appear to be anti firearm i would not be surprised to see Trudeau go after all firearms. Personally I am more than a little concerned.

Side note: Another gift from Trudeau coming this spring is a 25% increase in his carbon tax.

One has to wonder if we are to be the next Venezuela.

These are my own thoughts only as best i can put together from the media and their accuracy is not guaranteed as to what may eventually transpire. Actually I hope to hell I am totally wrong..

    • Are you suggested there’ll soon be great business opportunities running guns to Canada? I hadn’t considered gunrunner before, but current job is boring.

    • I remember when the Quebec Separatists were a problem. I’m guessing they’re entirely defunct; now would be a perfect time for them to resume their terrorist antics.

  7. All- Thanks for the comments and perspectives. David- Thanks for the report ‘from behind the lines’ so to speak. Frankly, I don’t see this ending well for the average Canadians!

    • Second post today on theCdn situation…..just announced…..
1.Watching the Emergency debate in Parliament one MP stated that the liberals are looking at an extended period of Emergency Powers……in other words possibly extending beyond the 30 days specified in the Act. The MP stated he may keep it going for months which possibly means indefinitely.
2.Allegedly per the federal attorney general….these powers may very well restrict your ability to express political opinion.
3.ThePrime Minister has stated that the vote tonight will be a vote in confidence of the Trudeau government and if he doesn’t get it passed there will be another election – we just had one less than 6 months ago and Trudeau did not get the majority government he wanted.
      4. After the last election he threatened Canadians with another election within 18 months to attempt to gain a majority. Last time he received less than 1/3 of the vote and through our electoral system he was able to retain control. He wants an election like a 16 year old wants to get lucky to win a majority and the east may give it to him – here in the west to say he is disliked would be showing great restraint. If the east gives him this majority we will be the next Venezuela.
      5. It was stated these new financial restrictions may be made permanent…..through the terrorism act or the banking act I have not yet heard.
      6. It has been indicated as per Section 19 of the Emergency Act after the successful vote tonight there will be further restrictions issued. It’s a 99% probability it will pass.
      7. How do you feel about having a dictatorship on your north border? Apparently not too long ago there was a rumour of Chinese troops doing some sort of training here. Emphasis -a rumour. I suspect the feds will come after most firearms in the not too distant future.

  8. (insert sounds of maniacal laughing) And what, pray tell, you people who think gold, silver and other precious metals are going to be worth when the authoritarian leftist poopheads make ownership of the said precious metals illegal? Like that progressive poophead FDR did? Anyone remember that? Turn your precious metals (except for jewelry, which is how many of the rich got around it to an extent) over at government rates and, oh, my, you have more than we thought so we’re only going to reimburse you for a certain amount.

    (insert sounds of maniacal laughter…)

Seriously, once a government goes authoritarian, nothing matters. NOTHING MATTERS! NOTHING! MATTERS!

Oh, you’ve got ‘extra food’? We’ll just seize that. Extra vehicles? Seize that. More than one bike per person? Seizure. Evil gas and diesel vehicles? Seizure. Non-high-efficiency appliances? Seizure. More than one tv/computer per household? Seizure. Books? Seizure. Weapons (and I mean anything THEY think are weapons)? Seizure.

House has more than one bedroom? Now you can house one family per bedroom, family includes grandparents also. ‘Own’ more than one property? Seizure.

And on and on. It’s how socialists of both international and national flavors operate.

All of that excess won’t be redistributed to the (dumb)masses, it will go into warehouses that only the elite will be able to access.

Welcome to The Hunger Games, District Subjects.

    Welcome to Feudalism, Socialist version.

  9. I have an idea for “Hands Across the Border.” Since Portland’s police like to sit on their thumbs send them to Ottawa and since the Canuck’s like to trample people with horses and crack heads, send them to Portland to deal with ANTIFA and BLM

  10. David- All I can say is I’m sorry… The Canadian people deserve better! Hopefully it will NOT pass tonight.

Beans- That will be a shooting war it that becomes reality. Fly over country won’t accept those restrictions!

    George- LOL, LOVE it!!!

  11. Note: Watching “Star Wars: The Bad Batch” is entertaining, but is NOT an effective distraction from the news regarding Canada. Watching a story set against the backdrop of a republic turning into an empire, and descending into totalitarianism, somehow fails to distract from recent news.
