9/11…

Today’s media pushes the idea it is time to ‘move on’ that 9/11 should become a part of our ‘history’ rather than continue to be kept at the forefront of people’s minds…

I lost two good friends in the Pentagon, Retired Captain Jack Punches and Captain Larry Getzfred. I served with and crossed paths with both these gentlemen from the 1970’s until 2001. I went to Arlington, and stood there remembering these guys like it was yesterday- How good they were with the sailors, how they worked throughout their careers to succeed in the Navy culminating in command tours. Jack had VR-24 in Sig and was well respected and remembered by his sailors, Larry had VP-40 and was very successful during the end of the cold war.

THIS was the reality of 9/11/2001

Not sugarcoated, apologized for, sanitized talking points, or spun by whomever.  We, the USA were attacked on our home soil by terrorists who are STILL determined to bring America to her knees, since we are the “Great Satan”…  21 years later, the terrorists are still after us, and the Taliban/al Queda are back in charge in Afghanistan…

Today, Biden and the other pols will horn in on the various memorials for the obligatory photo ops. They won’t speak, and will keep those who actually DID THE WORK out of the memorials.

On 9/12/2001, the firefighters and military hung this flag on the Pentagon in honor of those who died…

Military service members salute as fire and rescue workers unfurl a huge American flag over the side of the damaged Pentagon, Sept. 12, 2001, during rescue and recovery efforts following the previous day’s terrorist attack. At about 9:40 a.m. local time, a hijacked commercial airliner, originating from Washington’s Dulles airport, was flown into the Pentagon’s western side. In his weekly address to the nation issued Sept. 10, 2016, President Barack Obama recalled the 9/11 attacks that struck the United States 15 years ago. He urged all Americans to honor the memory of the nearly 3,000 victims of the attacks that targeted the Twin Towers in New York City, the Pentagon, and another airliner that crashed into a Pennsylvania field. He also called on citizens to salute the efforts of the firemen, police and other first responders who risked their lives to help others in need that dark day, as well as the U.S. service members, diplomats, and the intelligence, homeland security and law enforcement professionals “who serve, and have given their lives, to help keep us safe.” Navy photo by Petty Officer 1st Class Michael W.   1. Hey Old NFO;

Ya….The same media will keep fanning the issues of slavery and raparations thought….or is my snarky coming through?
We never forget even though the craven politicians and other lefties want to bury their heads in the sands and pretend that it didn’t happen, until the next time it happens because they defunded the intelligence gathering because the importance was not on external threats, but focused on Trump, the priority wasn’t Daesh, it was on MAGA because that enemy they understand, the other one they emphasize with because their collage professors had identified them as “Marginalized” by the west. The priority was in DIE(Diversity, Inclusion, Equity) not real world merit, so the actual people that have a clue were forced to retire or were shunted off to backwater assignments until the next attack then they will scramble to form another commission to find out what happened and it will never happen again*. But in the meantime Thousands of Americans will die again because of the short sighted politics of the people at DC on the Potomac. Sorry for the Rant
    * but it will because the politicians will forget the lessons of the past because the past is truth and Politicians hate the truth and reality.

  2. Condolences from the UK. As you say – Never forgive. Never forget!

  3. I will never forget the phonecall that woke me up early that morning (I was living in California).
My brother (NYFD) lost a lot of friends and coworkers that day – some of whom I’d met.
I’d watched those building getting built and had been in them many times. Not something I’ll ever forget.
    Or forgive.

  4. My sibling called and told me to turn on the radio. (I’d finished my air-ambulance shift at 0500 and was asleep). It’s not history for me, it’s current events. In part because Al Quaeda and “friends” keep making it current once again.

As several people have observed “When someone keeps yelling ‘I will kill you!’ and shooting/bombing/driving trucks at you, you need to take them seriously.”

  5. I knew Larry, too. He was a LT at VP-31 and seemed to be our primary instructor as I was going through the RAG after being recalled to active duty as a TAR. He was smart as a whip and always had a good, easy to understand answer to any questions about the B-Mod. He confirmed my thoughts that Mustangs made the best officers in Naval Aviation. I have been thinking a lot about him today.

  6. I will never understand how humans can commit such appalling acts. How do you combat the screwed-up ideas that motivate them?

    • Historically, you combat these sorts of ideas by killing all those who encourage the spread of the ideas.

        • On the contrary: it’s the only thing that *is* practical.

Unfortunately, people will argue that we can’t do that, it’s immoral, it’s genocide.

So what. It’s what *they* want to do to *us.* Which tells me it’s the way they want to be treated.

          So be it.

          I only wish we *would.*

  7. Can tell you only very generally where I was when JFK was shot, but I can tell you within 6 feet where I was when my wife interrupted my cutting the grass to tell me the first of the towers had been hit. My reply turned out to be accurate – not an accident, likely an attack of some sort.

  8. In 2001, there were fewer than one million Muslims in America. Now there are over five million. The State Department imports them, and forces them into communities that “voted too Republican”.

  9. 21 years later, we have China Joe, the FBI the CIA, and the DOJ, perverting the provisions of the Patriot Act to persecute conservative Americans, and bring the full weight of the Federal government against a former president and future presidential candidate. Having given Afghanistan back to the Taliban and Al Qaeda, China Joe’s administration has seemingly abandoned the fight against islamic fundamentalism, and is concentrating on American Citizens. Tell me again this isn’t deliberate.

  10. The improper response was the Iraq War.
It might be disagreed that Afghanistan was a proper response, but abandoning our friends (and people) and weapons and bases there as we did last year to our proven enemy removes any right for this despicable politician posing as our president to address anyone concerning 9/11.

  11. All- Thanks for remembering. Hawaiian- Yep, Larry was a Mustang, and a damned good one!

  12. Amen brother! My nephew was a cop in Somerset. PA on 9-11 and he graphically described the crash site of flight 93. The pieces of human flesh and body parts strewn at the crash site. There is a great museum at the site and I would urge all those that did not live through that time to make a visit and listen to the pjone calls the heroes of flight 93 made. NEVER FORGET!

  13. Amen brother! My nephew was a cop in Somerset. PA on 9-11 and he graphically described the crash site of flight 93. The pieces of human flesh and body parts strewn at the crash site. There is a great museum at the site and I would urge all those that did not live through that time to make a visit and listen to the phone calls the heroes of flight 93 made. NEVER FORGET!

    • I will never forget; I wish I could, but the barbarity of humans against humans ensures I will remember.

OT: I assisted with CPR on a teen lying in a spreading pool of his blood; I used to think PTSD was an weenie excuse. It isn’t.

  14. If you saw the images of the second aircraft impact on a tower, and didn’t instantly understand that the result would be “the Patriot Act” and all the resulting growth of the federal leviathan, you were not paying attention to history.

  15. John- Sadly I’ve seen that…

    Robert- No it’s not.

    Will- HIndsight is always 20-20…

    • Wasn’t hindsight. I don’t recall why I stopped at a restaurant, early in my shift patrolling a highway in silicon valley, but I walked in and saw the first tower burning, and got to see the second one hit, and knew instantly that the result would be a huge increase of .gov overreach that would impact our rights. I used to read history books for entertainment during my school years, and this was a classic situation that virtually no politician would be able to resist, as screwing the people to gain more personal and positional power is ingrained in most of them. Their response was pretty much carved in stone, and only a strong backlash from an informed public would have stopped them from doing it. We don’t have, and haven’t had, a knowledgeable public for many decades. You can blame that on our schools, which have been dumbed down for at least 100 years. Our schools and teachers have been less than good since the early 20th century. Deliberately.
