Ian McMurtrie was found not guilty of ‘Official Oppression’ by the judge yesterday at his trial!!!
Interesting to note that the first two sentences of the article are the ONLY discussion of Ian being acquitted, the remainder of the article regurgitates the charges against him…
Link to the local rag is HERE.
This is thanks to all those who donated to the GiveSendGo and participated in the raffle we did. Without your help, he would not have been successful, and deeply in debt.
Ian’s expert witnesses Chuck Haggard and Jim Anders on the LEO/Corrections side for use of force, and Kelly Grayson and Dr. Charles Johnson on the Paramedic/Doctor side buried the prosecution’s BS case and video in short order.
Interestingly, only ONE serving Sheriff’s Office person, the lieutenant that did the investigation testified for the prosecution. The Sheriff nor the Jail Administrator deigned to testify. Of the three former SO personnel that were subpoenaed to testify, only two were actually called, and ‘didn’t help’ the prosecution much, if at all.
Now Ian can get on with his life and writing without this damocles sword hanging over his head. And get his muse out of the bar and back to work on writing…
Thanks again to all who made this possible!!!
O U T S T A N D I N G !
+100
I have spent a fair amount of my life as a prosecutor and as a lawyer defending inmate litigation. Truth is often a rare quantity in that setting.
DE-lighted!
Wonderful!
Husband has experienced similar… sued for ExcessForce several times, in Fed Court, made headlines every time. Once aquited, the article was always buried beyond page 10 of local rag. And they never, ever, got his name correct… but name of inmate who sued for not being permitted to stab my hubs while incarcerated? Name correct every damn time AND lauded as a “victim” of the “clearly abusive legal system.”
I am so damn happy my husband, and Ian, are quit of the law enfarcement field!
Glad to hear it!
Absolutely Fantastic!
I’m sorry that he had to go through all of that, but at least it’s done now.
Woot!
Am so glad to hear that!! Now he can do more anthologies! 😉
LOL!
I am incredibly happy that this burden has been lifted from his shoulders so that he may enjoy his life again!
My hats off to all of the law enforcement folks out there. It is a tough, critically important, job and getting tougher.
The news about Law Dog made my day. Very glad the “system” eventually worked. Kudos to whomever arranged the fund raiser and glad it helped.
Hooah! I will be smiling all day. Maybe tomorrow too.
Christmas came early this year – the good guys won.
Hey Old NFO;
I am ecstatic!!!
Cry Havoc and Let loose the Fox of War!! I am paraphrasing Shakespeare I think, LOL
Congratulations. Will there be any pushback on the officer who instigated the whole debacle?
Too bad the system won’t now go after the charging officers nor the prosecutors who supported the charges.
This lawfare has to stop. Good people are being destroyed by a corrupt system far too often. Seriously, some mope with charges on video and tons of supporting evidence gets his case dismissed but a good person will be dragged through the system and made to pay for not taking any plea bargainings or lesser charges (and I love-not when the prosecutors ‘fail’ to mention to anyone when court is postponed or changed venue or all the other little nasty tricks they do to make the innocent pay. Seen it far too often, mopes get everything, innocents get destroyed.)
+1
Woohoo! So happy for Ian, and thank you all who supported him!
About dang time! I wasn’t expecting that kind of BS in Texas. Portland maybe, but not Texas. Heads should roll for malicious prosecution, but probably won’t.
Glad to hear this. I don’t know Law Dog personally only via his blog, his writings and the Blanket Fort. Just could not conceive of him doing what he was accused of.
One for the good guys…Good to hear this news, Thanks
All- Thank you, I’ll pass your good wishes along!
Tomorrow’s Bored Yet??? session should be a hoot.
Rick- We shall see… 🙂
Charges for malicious prosecution or the jerk will just do it again, and again, and again…
Great news for The Man.
Having money for expert witnesses is vital in a case like this.
Bravo to everyone to coughed up for his defense.
