What a ‘surprise’… NOT!
A coalition of 1,609 scientists from around the world have signed a declaration stating “there is no climate emergency” and that they “strongly oppose the harmful and unrealistic net-zero CO2 policy” being pushed across the globe. The declaration does not deny the harmful effect of greenhouse gasses, but instead challenges the hysteria brought about by the narrative of imminent doom.
The declaration, put together by the Global Climate Intelligence Group (CLINTEL), was made public this month and urges that “Climate science should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific.”

Sigh… A number of folks who actually ARE climatologists that I know and worked with have said since the early 2000s that there is no climate emergency and the data sets are flawed/corrupted and the models are skewed to ‘get’ the outcome the left wants.
Borepatch has followed/posted on this for years, and the post HERE from 2017 does a great job of ‘explaining’ it in understandable terms.
Of note, after the Dems/lefties said Maui was caused by globull warming, but the truth came out that HECO started the fires, you’ll note that none of them have responded… Much like the current hurricane hitting Florida ‘has never been seen’ (at least since 1899)…

A few years ago, I took a position where an engineer on the midnight shift started explaining to me the threat we faced, why were all idiots for denying it.
It was his religion. It gave him meaning. Working out some spreadsheet he had concocted gave him purpose.
Because he sucked at his real job.
The people that profess CO2 is a danger to the earth and is a danger to the planet. None of them have asked the trees and plants that survive on CO2 which they then give off oxygen. This was taught in elementary school science class when I was a child. Are people like Al Gore, Joe Biden, and others that dumb? No I do not think so. It is about raking in millions of dollars and more important CONTROL of the People and their ability to go where they want and when they want.
We have global warming because the government funds lucrative grants to researchers who claim global warming is real. Honest researchers are denied funding. To end global warming the government should fund lucrative grants stating global warming is false.
This. You get more of what you subsidize/pay for.
Same thing happens when you set out a bounty for a particular critter’s ears/scalp/pelt because there’s too many of them and you want to reduce the population.
Some enterprising little so-and-so will set up a farming operation to breed lots of those critters so he can fill his pockets with the bounties without having to hunt/trap them in the wild.

I took a class back in the 70s in college as one of my elective classes. I was in UCLA for Electrical Engineering. It was Physical Geometry, which was a title for a class that taught about the weather patterns, earth, past and present, and how the government and corporations interact.
The professor had been working at times for the oil industry and had seen the weather patterns, oil coming seeping from the ground, how the government runs things and environmentalist pushing their changes. I learned that Climate Change that was pushed is not real as it is nature. The US government has specific temp reading locations but over time that have gone from being more rural to being in concrete airport jet areas based on the build of the areas as technology increased have changed plus they have not increased the locations as much as they should have.
It was Climate Cooling, then Climate Warming, and now Climate Change. The reason is that the people in control cannot keep the lie on dates. They will still push this to keep control of people and to try to make money. People are getting sick of it.
Thermometers at airports are there for the aircraft. Warmer air is thinner and gives less lift, so the pilots need to know the temperature over the runways – NOT the temperature away from the airport that isn’t affected by pavement, air conditioners, and jet exhaust. They’re poor for measuring the weather or climate, but because the airport temperature is important to commercial airlines, that’s where there’s money for weather stations and frequent observations.
So the climate “scientists” have to use the airport temperatures because otherwise they’d have few ground temperature readings at all. If they’re honest and competent, they understand that their work is based on lousy data and won’t support sweeping conclusions. But if they’re after the money governments give away for justifying bigger government…
I stopped watching the MSM about 10 years ago. When I got tired of the pure never-ending, highly political, lies they were constantly pushing.
Now I’m trying to ween myself off of social media. If I didn’t need to be there as an author, I wouldn’t be there at all. I just wish I wouldn’t let myself get sucked into some of the crap that goes on.
The amount of incredibly stupid people has definitely increased in the last 40 years. We really need to do away with the Public School system. Since Carter (illegally) put the feds in charge of it, it’s just gone down hill.
Perhaps we need to stop plastering warning labels everywhere and allowing lawyers to sue manufacturers for not making their products safer even at the cost of functionality. If you are too stupid to survive without being protected from obvious hazards, perhaps you ought to die before reproducing.
Now that I can’t peruse the SF section in my local bookstore I use blogs and Facebook to hear about new authors like Jim, Peter, John S, etc. I never saw any value in Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc. and Tick-tock is that drunk guy saying “Can Y’all do this?” and faceplanting. Going to sea for 6 months in a sub broke my MSM tolerance a long time ago.
Livig here in Florida, there’s always tarballs on the beaches. People blamed and still blame it on wrecks and oil spills. But, funny, the research that showed the tarballs were from natural seeps because Florida could be one of the most productive states for petroleum production if we allowed drilling near our coasts because of the huge natural reserves that surround us, especially on the east coast.
Yeah.
As to the “CO2 is gonna kill us” people, I’ve always wondered exactly what they’ve been smoking, as what they’ve been smoking is often force grown using CO2.
Then again, they’re the same ones who bitch about the ‘devastation of the Amazon Rainforest’ even though 900 years ago most of the Amazon Rainforest was grassy plains. And that the current Amazon Rainforest is a net CO2 and Methane producer because of all the rotting vegetation, and that grassy plains and farmland do more for capturing carbon than said rainforest.
But what do I know? I’m not a (paid shill) scientist.
Scholarly consensus is crap when you can from first principles and basic tests show that the ‘theory’ the ‘scholars’ agree on is a load of hooey.
Critical theory is a government funded propaganda scheme. It is collusion among government captured academics to purport to be the only people who can ‘save’ us from ancient super conspiracies. Among other results of critical theory, women are betraying womenhood when they take any step that makes them less vulnerable to rape, only white supremacists have a problem with burning down black neighborhoods, and claims about behavior in foreign cultures are a guide to better functioning in American cultures.
It isn’t that these people are smart and educated enough to see clothes invisible to ordinary minds, it is that they are knaves who first fooled themselves into thinking that they were better than us.
‘Data’ is only something that exists so much as you can trust the people collecting it, and the methods used to collect and study it.
There is no reason to trust the selection of people claiming authority.
It is now a broadly reasonable strategy to distrust everyone who makes a claim that one cannot personally and independently verify oneself.
In the case of climate science, there are also reasons to distrust the methods. It spawned off of meteorology. Meteorology’s core method is kinda tricky, can be expected to break down at some point, and it may legitimately be hard to udnerstand when and where it breaks down.
There are other fields than meteorology, and they have methods of their own. These methods can be compared to meteorology, and then we can ask on what grounds Climate Science claims a monopoly for deciding to use only the methods of meteorology in modeling this area of concern.
Facts will ALWAYS take a back seat to political agendas. The climate scam is no different.
