TBT…

Haven’t done one of these in a while…

Back in the day, this is how we let everybody know we’d gotten the ‘job’ done!

Used to piss off certain COs, but what the heck, our maintainers loved it!

It was always a team effort, and without the maintenance support we had, we could not have succeeded as often as we did!

Fond memories!!!

  1. Most of my Navy friends were bubbleheads rather than airdales, but I’ve heard stories (mostly of the we were somewhere that doesn’t exist doing something that never happened variety) and I get the sentiment. Today, I suspect, that would not be well received by the higher ups.

    • My wife introduced a our son (COB) to a co-worker who had emigrated from Russia. Murmansk.
Our boy said, “Oh. I’ve seen Murmansk, It’s nice.”
She said, “Oh, you’ve been there?”
      “No, but I’ve seen it.”

        • Many things, once seen, cannot be in-seen. Hence, the reason for Non-Disclosure Agreements. And a few Inadvertant Disclosures.
A now-retired Director once told me: if I find out anything you’ve been involved with makes it into the news, we’re both finished.

          • I wasn’t supposed to know about Cuba.
Pro-tip: don’t leave stuff sitting out on your desk in plain view when you have visitors.

That night on Channel 2 News with Paul Bloom: “There is no truth to the rumor that there are missiles in Cuba”. Good times.

  2. It was always nice to know that you’d done something constructive what with us letting you borrow our airplanes and all.

  3. We had a similar flag that we’d throw up on one of our vehicles on the way back inside the wire. No doubt it pissed off certain CO’s, but they didn’t go out with us. Chris and his team said F*** it and just painted it right on some of theirs. No “I” in team. Thank you to all the people, “you know who you are” who brought us “Steel Rain” when we needed it, JDAM with a quick nine line, SIGINT/COMM bubba’s and all other support so we could do our job!

  4. Did a lot of work as a Liaison Engineer at the big L on the P-3 Orion Program and it’s my favorite. Have you seen the Kawasaki P-1?

  5. Old mustang ground pounder here. Any CO worth his salt would have posed for a photo with the crew AND their flag.

    • AND whose throats get slit? Oh, wait, wrong meme.
WHY would a CO get pissed? Espirit de corps is important!

    • Well, yeah, you Brownshoes can get away and relax. The rest of us are stuck onboard the ship/boat for effin’ EVAR.
