CNN may be ‘hurting’ if they lose this one!
The case may not be as well known (yet), but CNN could be facing a defamation liability rivaling or exceeding the $787 million Fox News paid out to Dominion Voting Systems. NewsBusters recently reported on Florida’s First District Court of Appeals affirming that plaintiff Zachary Young could seek punitive damages, in addition to economic and emotional damages, from the Cable News Network in a civil trial after they allegedly defamed him regarding his work in getting people out of Afghanistan. The total could near or exceed $1 billion.
For that outcome to be remotely in the cards, Young needed to prove malice and according to the ruling, he’s done exactly that. “Young sufficiently proffered evidence of actual malice, express malice, and a level of conduct outrageous enough to open the door for him to seek punitive damages,” Judge L. Clayton Roberts wrote in the court’s ruling.

It is about time the news media actually gets sued and has to assume responsibility for the crap they spew about John Q. Public.
For way too long, they have s**t on the ‘little people’, knowing they would never be held accountable for their actions. But now, it appears the courts are not as friendly to the media as they once were.
Personally, I think this is a good thing!!!

I hope so. It would be about time to see members of mainstream media find out the words THEY use to describe to the world can paint a picture. When / if they choose to make a person appear to be bad, there should be consequences.
I can imagine Donald Trump being able to sue many of the MSN for lies / exaggerations / outright fabrications told about him and his family for the past eight years.
Alex Jones was fined a billion dollars for speaking his mind. And Gateway Pundit was sued into oblivion for speaking the truth. And Trump was fined half a billion dollars for existing.
It’s a small club, and we ain’t in it. Or, in other words…

GOod, they need to get wacked down a peg or two, they have let their activism get in the way of their *ethics(I know, I know, Stop laughing, you gonna spill your coffee). Mr. Young was getting people out of A-stan and making the vegetable in chief look bad after the disastrous pullout Xiden and his handlers did, and CNN saw a chance to stick it to someone that wasn’t part of their”Little Blue bubble” and went off the rails. THis needs to happen more, DJT and others need to do the same thing, and start going after the wallets, and after a few million dollar judgments, the mainstream media will realize(Stop laughing, you gonna spill your coffee again), that hewing to the donk party line is expensive.
CNN will declare bankruptcy, the actual damage to the failing company will be a far cry from punitive, and their public apology will be “sincere”. A few news readers will hurt their career, sale a book, or two, and the stockholders will move on to another source of income. My dream of those in charge being pilloried will be shattered. I’ll have to make a note to not buy some rotten vegetables.
They’re already morally bankrupt, and their viewership continues to decline as more people realize.

The outcome of this trial depends not on the facts but upon the plaintiff finding an honest court and an honest judge. Sadly the odds of that happening are slim at best.
I have a bad habit of reading – or listening to – history while on the tractor, driving, or doing anything that keeps my hands occupied. I’ve just been through the English Civil War, and the succeeding generation.
The overall impression is that nothing has changed. The party-politics is still very similar. The corruption ditto. Old-Power vs. New-Money. Country vs. City. Popular sentiment (yes, it did matter back then) being manipulated, and then drowning the manipulators. …
Anti-war, isolationist sentiment leading to underfunding of the military…. leading to loss of advantages and far greater casualties on the battlefield when war was unavoidable. Picking the wrong fights when it was.
Perhaps the biggest difference is that more people were prepared to die for their principles. Otherwise, there is nothing new under the sun. We are neither smarter nor more moral than our ancestors.
CNN is currently trying to claim copyright on the Presidential Debates. Wonder how well that’ll work?

If “Journalists” had to answer for their words on dueling grounds the truth might be a tad more common.
Bringing back consensual dueling could solve many problems we now face.
All I think is this day of multimillion dollar, even billions, in settlements is absurdly beyond the pale. It is the world gone mad. No quarter given.
It is comparable to sentencing of multiple life times in prison. The sentence is impossible. It is akin to, ‘We find you despicable times infinity’
Of course it will not be paid. Of course it will not be carried out.
Unless, of course, your name is Alex Jones, or you are a J6 in the gulag, or Assange 12 years for a crime you didn’t do. Still, there looms the extrajudicial death. But not for CNN.
