The blurb-

The purpose of this anthology is not to denigrate pogues. On the contrary, we felt their representation in fiction (military SF or otherwise) a bit lacking. What about the kid with the thirty-pound brain locked away in the vault, like in Gene Rowley’s tale of a lance corporal in the Cyber Corps? The medical ninjas who’re willing to move heaven and earth to save one more life feature prominently in K. Anders’s story. Chris DiNote shows us there are worse things lurking within the depths of the military machine than mere pogues. In “The Troll,” Jim Curtis reminds us that the hardest working folks in the military just may be the apes whose job is to keep aircraft in the sky. Wrapping up our ensemble of storytelling is Liska McCabe, who reminds us that no matter the MOS, we all endure check-out in the end.

Yes, I have a story in this one… 🙂

But I would also like to recommend two authors you might like!

William Allen Webb! If you like over the top military fiction, his Last Brigade Universe is a good one, HERE.

Mackey Chandler! If you like science fiction and strong female characters, Mackey writes two series that have that along with believable science, HERE.

With the weather being what it is, a good book isn’t a bad thing to have right now!!!

  1. There was a WWII era tune that wasn’t quite “pogue” but perhap[ captured the idea… ‘Arms for the Love of America’… “The war can be lost or won…. by the man behind the man behind the gun.” It was about how PRODUCTION was Important. And “the whir of lathes, the stutter of rivet guns” was ALSO the sound of Victory.

  2. Also, John Van Stry’s fifth book in the Wolfhounds series titled “Manifest Destiny” just came out:

And it’s a #1 Best Seller in the “Space Marine Science Fiction” in both the USA and Canada. Congratulations, John!

    • Further, John’s running an Amazon sale in both the USA and Canada, and the prices are in the local currency in both cases.

The first of the Ghost Warrior series, “Serendipity” is discounted to $1.99 all of January:

The first of the Wolfhounds series, “Stand Alone” will be discounted to $2.99 on January 22. It’s a one-day-only sale, so try to catch it on the day if you’ve been looking to see if this series is something you’d enjoy. The first four books have been absolutely fantastic, so I can heartily recommend this as a series to read. In order you don’t miss out, consider setting an alarm on your smart phone for that date and time.
