Gah, really???

One more egg to the face of LA…

The Los Angeles Fire Department brass was even more clueless than we thought. Bombshell texts show that L.A. firefighters were ordered to leave the scene of the still-smoldering Lachman Fire despite protests from the team left to watch it. Days later, and as feared, predicted killer winds caused that fire to flare up.

As one of the text exchanges between the firefighters put it later, “And the rest is history.”

The conflagration that followed killed twelve people and destroyed thousands of homes and businesses in the Pacific Palisades and Malibu.

The Los Angeles Times reported that firefighters tending the aftermath of the eight-acre Lachman Fire on January 2 were told by their commander in a text that they needed to leave. The firefighters explained that the rocks and the ground where they were watching for hot spots were still hot to the touch.

As a former VFD type who fought ‘brush’ fires back in the late 70s early 80s, the cardinal rule was a firewatch was maintained until the fire was COMPLETELY out. Yes, it was a PITA, and usually involved at least 24 hours on scene, but trust me, palmettos WILL fire back up with the slightest winds… sigh

The bad part about the LA situation is that they knew there were wind events forecast, and my bet is that the brass didn’t want to pay the overtime to set the firewatch, because OT was a big issue for them. 8 acres turned into, what, almost 20,000 acres? and 12 lives lost, and how many homes/businesses…

But it is also California, where the econazis, yes I meant to use that term, got control of California, stopping normal fire protection burns, including those by actual forest rangers who are trained to do that, and prohibiting clearing of unsafe trees, brush, etc. (see Camp Fire, big trees within FEET of homes that could not be cut).

At least out here, everybody pitches in, including farmers with plows and their own bulldozers, helicopters, etc. to fight the brush fires because the winds can drive them for MILES out here, in addition to wiping out thousands of cattle, among other things.

Gah, really??? — 20 Comments

  1. At what point does incompetence see to be that, and is instead deliberate malice. Also watch to see who buys up the property and is allowed to build on it (Ex: Hawaii fires and property buys) vs the property owners.

  2. The people responsible for that order should be charged with manslaughter as a minimum and possibly negligent homicide. But I fear nothing will be done unless there is a straight white man in the chain of command.

  3. It is clear to me that the Dems running LA and the state are incompetent. They have the LA city and County FD not operating right. In LA they hired people to run it based on being women and gay versus quality. In LA they let equipment not get repaired and not give the FD money to pay their people and pay for equipment.

Since Reagan left as Gov the Dems stopped his policies with forests and hills. Reagan used logging companies to clear out dead wood and areas in forests to stop massive fires. This allowed the logging companies to make money, hire people and create jobs, give tax money to the state while keep the state safe from burning and less money to FDs. This was also used in the hills around LA county. The

Dems stopped this and with homeless, illegals, and drug users with camps make meth there are camps starting fires. Plus with Electrical companies not fixing electrical lines over time and the state not going after them as Newsom is in bed with them. Add to this with growth of forest brush and dead wood, high winds, all lead to massive fires.

  4. Hey Old NFO,

Hey its California, why am I not surprised, it is the “Peter Principle” State. I am of the point I’ ready to let the state succeed from the union and let the commies have it and run it into the ground, if it wouldn’t give the CCP a foothold on the North American Continent( Like Canada under Trudeau hasn’t already done that.

  5. Overtime concerns ? Sometimes ya gotta pay overtime , setting a reflash watch on dry brush like that is prudent and necessary . As someone else has said , LA had numerous down vehicles , also heard fire departments from other places and states were getting DOT inspected and put out of service for minor discrepancies en route to render assistance and never made it . California , I’ve been there quite a few times it always seems a little off , very pretty in places though , wayyy expensive . There are probably places I could enjoy living there and perhaps fit in , but I could never afford it .

    • +1 I think you broke the code.

      1) Money is tight so don’t spend it on firemans salary. They make too much already according to the bean counters.

      2) Letting other state agencies in to fight OUR fire may make us look incompetent. Stall them and maybe we get lucky and the rain puts the fire out. Politician think at its finest.

  6. California is what you get with “Our Democracy”. Virtual signalling voters meet hustlers meet low information voters. The competent and sensible voters get overwhelmed.

  7. Embrace the healing power of AND.
The Dems are both incompetent AND malicious.

  8. So there is a cost to tolerating fraud that secures one’s preferred faction in power.

At best, increase in costs from a little extra graft.

At worst, staggering destructive incompetence, or outright murderous insanity.

The traceability is not there to verify that this really is actual California voter preference.

  9. Was it incompetence>
give me some time and money to screen write this and you’ll have a tale of corruption and intrigue showing how interests that wanted to take the property in LA that no one can afford to rebuild on with their pensions.
And done with collusion with the politicians involved.
Find a homeless fall guy (but I’d kill him off in the blaze) to start the fire and your off…

  10. There’s no shortage of evil people in positions of authority who WANTED these fires…and would like to see more of them.

  11. It seems they’re making the state uninhabitable. Cultural suicide is a heckuvva thing.

  12. A friend, on the precipice of bankruptcy, got an emergency contract with CA state fire dept (Cal fire)

He was nearest and first on scene with his heavy equipment to battle what became the state’s largest fire at the time. His company worked long hours and pocketed gobs of money. Well earned.

The fire had been started by a fire chief from Los Angeles. The fire was one of sixteen started by the creep that year. Pyropaths love to see stuff burn. The FD is a dream job for them.

  13. I’ve heard that the fix for a tree that can’t legally be removed is to sharpen a length of copper pipe and hammer it into the treetrunk. Poisons the tree, I’m told. Not fast, but certain, and not obvious.
