Here we go again…

Fake news, ‘this time’ from Iran, but the MSM has been picking it up and running with it… But…

The following is from CENTCOM, HERE.

CLAIM: Over the past 48 hours, multiple media outlets have reported several false claims related to USS Abraham Lincoln’s (CVN 72) deployment to the Middle East. One report alleged seven Sailors died in a brawl aboard the aircraft carrier and others have recently suggested a spike in suicidal ideations. These reports are FALSE.

FACT: USS Abraham Lincoln has maintained among the highest crew reenlistment rates (84.4%) of all aircraft carriers in the U.S. Navy. The Sailors and Marines of the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group remain resilient and resolved after more than 260 days at sea, 10,000 aircraft flights, and 1.5 million pounds of ordnance expended. No service members aboard the aircraft carrier have died, and the one Sailor who fell overboard Aug. 3 was quickly and safely recovered. The rampant misreporting on Abraham Lincoln’s historic deployment is a disservice to our men and women in uniform and their loved ones.

And then there is this little ‘jewel’ from Military.com, HERE.  As I’ve said before, all of these sites are not really pro military, and like to take shots at all the services while they ‘portray’ being the ‘voice’ of the troops… Yeah, right…

Folks, deployment on a ship is NOT fun. Especially a carrier, but you do train for it, and the ships crews work hard to take care of everyone. Yes, you work long hours, seven days a week, with few days off, unless you make a port call.

But ‘facts’ like those presented above are BS, plain and simple…

In other news, it IS that time of year out here…

Image

We’re in our third week in a row of 100+ degree temps and no rain, with another three weeks of 100+ with no rain before it drops below 100 degrees after the 28th…

Sigh…

The yard is officially dead, the only living thing is the weeds…

And I’m pretty much hiding in the house unless I ‘have’ to go somewhere!

  1. ’81-’82 USS Constellation WestPac. 9 month (normal) deployment. No problems.

’83-’84 USS Ranger WestPac. 9 month deployment. Problems. That was only after 4 main burned down and we dragged a screw, could barely make launch speed. Even then it was only after 100 days straight at sea people went loopy. Hawaii, PI, IO, PI, Hawaii.

Wish I’d known how much fun I was having on my first cruise…

    • Rich@1706:
      USS Constellation CV-64 née CVA-64
      WestPac April’77-Nov’77
      One sailor missing.
One blown overboard but recovered unharmed.
      One overdosed in his bunk.
One died after being ingested by a jet.
One died due to a fouled deck during a test cat shot.
An A-6 landed with both main tires blown out and BIG holes in the wings. Seeing it yaw after hooking was interesting.
One tropical storm. Intruder watch was set.
One pickup truck cat launched. Sank quickly.
      Another unremarkable cruise.
      Media is full of it.

  2. The problem is that the government has lost credibility. People don’t know who to believe and certainly don’t trust DC. Not saying what is accurate, probably spin on both sides.

    • Steve – There is a good reason for distrust. In 1948, the Smith-Mundt act blocked the Gov’t from being able to use propaganda on the American people. In 2012, Obama repealed it, the repeal being sold as “modernization”.

  3. The mad mullahs are only parroting what our very own main stream media is reporting.

Hmm… Or is it the MSM reporting what their Iranian masters are telling them to?

If I was in power I’d be looking into that.

    • Beans – your question brings to mind CNN and Saddam Hussein. The were his best propagandists reporting what he said as news, “to maintain access”.

  4. PRC funding seems to have replaced the Qatar hypothesis for the Jew haters and that astroturf.

Anyway, I’ve been using to Twitch to watch Archon quest content for the 7.0 patch of Genshin Impact. The last part of Act 1 for the new Archon quest more or less confirms that the content was written in the PRC after Trump screwed cheap Iranian oil to the ChiComs. Which is the default hypothesis, because Hoyo is in the PRC, and the timing fits for finalizing the last draft.

There’s a simple explanation that the Iranians are taking dictation from the PRC, and that the Democrats likewise take that dictation. The second element is risky because of the hazard of convincing oneself before there is sufficient evidence to persuaded others.

BLM, the covid lockdown, the Jew hating, anti-ICE, and Iran could all be motivated by CCP simping or direction.

There’s some reason to think that certain Dems have written off that effort to clap harder for extremist tinkerbell, and are trying to shift moderate for the elections. But, what they are and are not disavowing could be CCP directed.

    Dunno.

  5. My wife’s family is Navy. Her Dad was a Naval Officer, and each of the 6 children were born at different Naval Bases. He served various things and on the USS Kitty Hawk in CIC during Viet Nam. He retired and later died due to age.
