Bloomie didn’t buy the election here…

Virginia voters dealt New York billionaire Michael Bloomberg and out of state gun control groups a stinging defeat in the 2015 election.

Bloomberg attempted to swing control of the Virginia Senate by spending millions to elect pro-gun control candidates, but his efforts were thwarted by candidates endorsed by the National Rifle Association.

Bloomberg and out of state gun-control groups spent nearly $3 million dollars on a pro-gun control message promoting their candidates and attacking NRA-backed candidates for their support of the Second Amendment.  92% of NRA-backed candidates won in spite of their efforts.

Even the WAPO had to admit the money and gun control agenda didn’t work, HERE.

And then there’s this statement-

According to the Richmond Times Dispatch, the largest advertising buy was purchased by “Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund.” Bloomberg heads up this gun-control organization, and the group bought $700,000 of ad time on the Gecker’s behalf. However, Sturtevant defeated Gecker.

The whole article is HERE from the Daily Caller.

And Miguel at Gun Free Zone added a nice post, he did some follow-up on the Moms and Everytown… HERE.

Bloomie didn’t buy the election here… — 17 Comments

  1. I heard the news on the Laura Ingram show last night – great news ! Blaming inanimate objects for evil acts committed is plain dumb.

  2. And even with Bloomberg’s efforts to buy the election, the status quo remains. But without his efforts, would the election have gone more Republican/Conservative?

The injection of that much money towards one side of the political spectrum changes something, but what change and how much change, remains undetermined.

  3. Perhaps this will be a wake-up call for those Dems who insist on riding the “gun control” horse into the ground…nah, never happen. Most of them seem to not be that bright.

But just imagine the actual good all that anti-gun money could do if it weren’t being spent by idiots on an idiotic cause.

  4. The Old Dominion stood up to the Washington elite yet once again.

  5. It was a bad day for liberals/progressives in general.

As you noted, despite the infusion of millions of dollars by Bloomberg and his fellow rich liberals, Republicans held onto their majority in Virginia’s Senate.

Tea Party-backed Matt Bevin was elected Governor of Kentucky. His Lieutenant Governor, Jenean Hampton, is female, republican, an AF veteran, and the first African-American elected to statewide office in Kentucky. Republicans in general won almost all of KY’s constitutional offices.

Ohio voters rejected a proposal to legalize marijuana.

San Francisco’s sheriff, an outspoken proponent of SF’s status as a ‘sanctuary city,’ was booted out of office.

Houston voters easily rejected an initiative that would have given special legal status to the LGBT crowd.

There may be a tiny speck of light way down there at the end of the tunnel…

  6. On one of CenTexTim’s points: “Ohio voters rejected a proposal to legalize marijuana.”
There seems to be a possibility that a straight bill to legalize pot, or some pot, would have passed. But even Buckeyes* aren’t stupid enough to vote for a bill that would enshrine in state law a monopoly in any industry.

*As a Michigander, I am obligated to take the shots where I can… 😉

  7. j.r.- That it is! 🙂

John- Good question and no good answer right now… But I have ‘heard’ that McAuliffe threw a s**t fit when he found out they’d lost! 🙂

    GR6/WSF- Agreed!

    LL- Finally! 😀

Tim/Drang- Yep, maybe there IS hope!!!

  8. I just read that Bloomberg is wanting to buy Smith and Wesson. So that he can control all by himself and gun sales to honest, law-abiding people, and that includes the NRA members? Probably. But that ain’t gonna keep guns out of the hands of those assholes who want to go into a school, church, theater, or shopping mall to kill as many as they can.

But, then liberals and Democrats (but I repeat myself) have never been known for having common sense about much of anything. Or anything at all, at all.

  9. The Liberal Gov. ran around Virginia like a “chicken with his head cutoff”!! That didn’t work either! Woody in Roanoke, VA

  10. Scottie- Concur. With them it’s ALL emotions!!!

    Woody- LOL, good!

    Ed- That they do!

WN- Well, he HAS had success in other places, like Colorado… sigh
