Memorial Day 2010… — 18 Comments

  1. Thanks to you and men and women like you, past, present and future, we are still a great nation, no matter who tries to bring us down!
Hope you are somewhere warm and are having a relaxing, fun, happy time!!
    Gia

  2. I remind everyone I know, every year, that this one’s not about me or my service. This one’s for those that didn’t come back.

  3. Gia- I’ve been at the range, shooting as MY tribute… This is really the day for those who didn’t make it back.

    Crusty- concur

  4. Extra blessings on our serving military, veterans, and the friends and families who have lost a hero.

    Have a good day everyone!

  5. Old NFO
I know who its for, I just think any opportunity to thank the living or the dead is one I wont miss! we all die, these people do it with honor and valor in life, just like you!!! (Gia sticks out her tongue and makes a raspberry sound at that!)) so there!

  6. A little town like mine, pop.5-600 in ’41 saw 63 guys sign up. 12 didn’t come back. I go to the cemetery every year to thank again the people of,”The Greatest Generation”, who gave up so much for the people of this country and all that we enjoy. Have a good one and, Anchors Aweigh my boy!

  7. LCP Jeffrey Burgess USMC, everyday I look at your name on the band on my wrist.

    You will not be forgotten.

  8. Memorial Day is when I remember my neighbor down the street, Bobby Atwell, who enlisted shortly after high school. His mom was my English teacher and his dad was an attorney. His sister got her nose broken in our backyard during a game of softball, before the lawsuit rage.

Bobby died somewhere in Viet Nam.

Thank you, Old NFO, for serving our country. Thanks to my wonderful husband for serving our country. And thank you, Bobby, and all your fallen comrades, for serving our country.

    Love

    Granny

  9. NFO, glad you had a good holiday. Mrs Crucis and I spent a little time on the road returning late last night.

I was gladdened to see all the memorials and cemeteries sporting flags. Almost every small town we passed through sported flags and had scheduled other memorial services. A sentiment strangely absent in the metro areas like KC.

  10. Granny- Thanks and agreed!

    ADM- Thanks

    Paw- Salut!

Crucis- Interesting isn’t it… My street was lined with flags, the rest of the neighborhood, not so much. Except for two townhouses, everybody on the street is either current or retired military…

  11. I am regular visitor, how are you everybody? This paragraph posted at this web site
    is actually fastidious.
