Just not feeling it…

Just can’t seem to get in the mood this year, I’m guessing it’s at least partially because Christmas lights and palm trees just don’t work too well…

And the 250+ lb Hawaiian serving the Kailua pig, even if he IS wearing a Hawaiian Christmas shirt and Santa hat, just ain’t gettin it…  And the kid surfing in the Santa suit?  All I can say is I hope he doesn’t fall, he’ll drown in that outfit…

But I DID find a good stocking stuffer…

ONLY in Hawaii, single serving SPAM…  LOL

And I was out and about WAY too early, because I kept waking up at 0600 DC time….  So, a sunrise Hawaiian style with an early arrival on final to 08 Right at Honolulu

And finally, on the way back to the airport, a double rainbow.  Sorry for the lousy resolution, but it was REALLY a bright double and very visible to the naked eye!

So things ARE looking up… 🙂

And for those who believe, a ‘digital’ Christmas story HERE

If you and yours are travelling for the holidays, I wish each and everyone a safe trip and a whole lot of patience!!!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy (insert your greeting of choice here)!!!

Just not feeling it… — 34 Comments

  1. I find it more difficult to get in the spirit when the weather is warm. Sure wish I had the spam.

    Love,
    Lola

  2. Single serving Spam. Wow. There must be a market. Fry it up and serve it with Kraft Mac and Cheese.

Double rainbow. Hmmm. Did you have the double rainbow religious experience? This makes me chuckle. Watch to at least :23. It’s worth the whole 3 or so minutes. The crying starts at 1:50 or so.

  3. Did you get to stop in and see the F-22’s there?
A lot of my buddies are over there now getting them stood up.

  4. I know what you mean about Christmas in Hawaii – there’s something just not right about ‘Mele Kalikimaka’ and giant ornaments when it’s 83. The Spam’s good with loco moco, though. 🙂

  5. Merry Christmas to you. Don’t feel too bad, it’s in the 60’s here :-(.

  6. Spam SINGLES – Yes only in Hawaii, or perhaps on Guam.

It makes me think of the old days, when the locals felt that spam for dinner somehow was the equal of steak or lobster (or both).

  7. Beautiful pictures!

I’m still not feeling it this year either.

Hawaii is on my bucket list.
My Nephew was in Guam working for 3 weeks and stopped by in Hawaii this week for a few days.He LOVED both places.

  8. Lola- Yep, thanks!

45er- There IS a huge market in Hawaii… (School and other lunches)
and that video is just beyond stupid, wonder what he was high on at the time…

    Guffaw- Thanks!

MSGT- Nah, I don’t deal with the Air Force 🙂 I did see a couple of them in the crash and dash pattern though.

    Rev- Spam musubi 🙂

    Robert- You’re welcome

Don- I’m back on the East Coast, now cold… 🙂

LL- Yep, I remember those days too! Hell, I still eat SPAM 🙂

Crusty- Didn’t know that, but that IS a great idea for BOBs

SS- Guam and Hawaii are ‘different’ to put it mildly…

  9. Merry Christmas Jim, hope you will be with your family. Take care and hope you also haVe a better year than all the rest!

  10. Merry Christmas to you! I know you said you wouldn’t be back this way until spring but if you need some cold weather and a dusting of snow to get in the spirit of the season, you’re always welcome here. We’ve got a spare room and cats for foot-warmers.

I know a guy that can cook like no-one’s business, especially now that he’s got additional spices….. 😉

I also think I’ve finally mastered Bread–the loaves I baked today were absolutely perfect. Now I’ve got to duplicate it to make sure it wasn’t a fluke.

In all seriousness though, you’ve always got a place at the table when you want.

  11. I’m having a hard time getting in the spirit of things myself.

    The rainbow pic is beautiful.

    About Christmas in Hawaii??????
    Shaddup 😛

  12. I’d be good if we hung around 50 at Christmas – I’m way over my “White Christmas” time of life.

Got Spam in singles here in WV. I had to try it. Been years. Let’s just say only in emergencies.

    Beautiful rainbow pic!

  13. We find the single serving Spam about 60 miles South of your home. It is out there if you look.

  14. Ev- Gonna get to spend Christmas with the kids in California, so I’ll be having fun with them. Same to you Sir! 🙂

    DC/Tim- Back at ya 🙂

MC- Thanks and I will take you up on that (when it warms up) 🙂

  15. Merry Christmas to you too.

You can’t beat good a stocking stuffer.

The digital Christmas was pretty good.

  16. Merry Christmas my friend! Always remember, Christmas is in the heart. Concentrate and you will find it there in Hawaii.
    I want some SPAM now!!

  17. My local King Soopers (Kroger) store has single serving Spam all the time. It’s a great addition to a bug-out bag or a small corner of the pack when hunting or hiking in the Colorado mountains.

  18. ADM- Thanks

Butch- It is, especially when it’s seasoned rice (I didn’t ask with what…LOL)

WSF- It was a short 2 day trip…

Danny- Thanks and same to you!

Earl- And the same to you and yours!

Anon- Gotta go see if I can find some, and yeah, it’ll go in the BOB

  19. Single serve Spam — for when you need that quick dose of preservatives. MMMMMMmmmm.

    Have a Merry Christmas!
