Veterans websites…

Via the mil-email chain…

Someone has gone to a lot of trouble.  If this helps one person, then it was worthwhile.  Please pass this on to all Veterans on your e-mail list.

Below are web-sites that provide information on Veterans benefits and how to file/ask for them. Accordingly, there are many sites that explain how to obtain books, military/medical records, information and how to appeal a denied claim with the VA.  Please pass this information on to every Veteran you know.  Nearly 100% of this information is free and available for all veterans, the only catch is: you have to ask for it, because they won’t tell you about a specific benefit unless you ask for it.

You need to know what questions to ask so the right doors open for you and then be ready to have an advocate who is willing to work with and for you, stay in the process, and press for your rights and your best interests.

Veterans websites… — 13 Comments

  1. It’s about time somebody published a list of support sites. Thank you for doing the job.

  2. Gaffer- I can’t take credit, but I’m happy to push it for others to have access!

    Bruce- Good one, thanks!

    TOL- Thanks!

    WSF/Stephen- You’re welcome

  3. I’ve been trying to get my full benefits for 8 years. The first two appeals the DAV helped me with. After that I had to hire a lawyer.

The very idea that we have law firms that only handle VA claims tells me we are really in sad shape. We’re into our third year on this last appeal. I’ve jumped through all the hoops and been prodded and poked to no end and still it’s not enough.

Sometime I just get tired of it.

  4. Great stuff. Thanks for passing this along. All veterans need to know what’s available and how to access it.

  5. Brighid- you’re welcome

Robert- NOT the first horror story I’ve heard, and yeah, that’s pretty sad…

    Six- Concur!

  6. Thanks Old NFO, I am arguing with the VA, they are denying my Gulf War issues, SO I have to locate an advocate to handle my case. The State VA representative seems pretty good, but I will need to look for another.
