Such fun

Well, another ‘spring’ day…

CID ramp

Snowing sideways in Cedar Rapids, field at minimums, flight finally got in, quick turned for Chicago.

This was the ‘view’ from just after takeoff until just before landing in O’Hare…

Of course I missed my connection…

Two plus hours of ‘people’ watching in Chicago really makes me wonder…

The guy with the purple sharkskin suit and green hair- I really hope he’s an actor… The 50something woman with the miniskirt, hooker boots and bad plastic surgery (above AND below the neck), well I ‘think’ she’s got issues… The older couple obviously still in love after many years might have been moving a little slow, but they were determined!

Interesting conversation with a guy out of Minnesota, he’s flying to DC to drive to MD to pick up 2 spam cans of 8mm for his old Mauser. When I asked why? He shrugged and said at the price he got it was cheaper to fly down and pick it up than buy on line (apparently the other guy wouldn’t ship it).

27 standbys for the DC flight made for an ‘interesting’ line up at the boarding gate, to put it mildly…  And the bimbette trying to ‘buy’ a seat was just stupid, but I’m not even going there…  Bottom line, 10 hours for a 2.5 hour trip, but at least I’m sleeping in my own bed!!!

  1. You sir, are a road warrior. I doubt I’d be willing to do the same, for most any job.

Regarding the rescue flight on the 8mm, I was all set to question the man’s sanity… and then I checked GB for going prices on 8×57. Now excuse me, I have to go make room in my safe for ammo.

  2. Carteach- yeah, pretty sad when a $300 ticket is considered CHEAP to go get ammo… He’s getting 1800 rounds of German 8mm Mauser Heavy Ball for $450. I’d be getting on an airplane too!

  3. the ammo guy seems to have been the most sane of them all. Except for maybe the “in love” couple.
and what is it with these 50 something women trying to look young? We were in the ATT store saturday and in walks a 50s something “tennis pro” with her cup of starbucks..showing off her legs in her tennis skirt, it was so tight you could see all the dimples in her rear end..ick..

  4. The idea of having gigantic, round bazoombas on one’s chest while sitting in a wheelchair at the retirement home is creepy. One of the many reasons I eschew plastic surgery.

  5. Carteach- True… LOL

WSF- ALL the way outside, TWICE (and back through #@@# security TWICE)…

JUGM- No idea, I put them in the same class as the former cheerleaders living vicariously through their daughters…

    Rev- yeah, sigh…

Opus- Good point! IMHO, real is always better!

  6. Good times. You can be assured you will never run-out of stories.

Glad you made it home safe.

  7. ” The older couple obviously still in love after many years might have been moving a little slow, but they were determined!”
“Determined” is how you stay in love that long. God bless ’em.

  8. I just love people watching in airports…
Got a short one lined up for Thurs-Sat…
JAX is pretty tame but EWR is always a hoot.

    Travel safe!

  9. BTDT. A friend and I once spent 11 hours in the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport returning from LA. American Airlines downchecked the plane for the KC leg. We should’ve rented a car and drove. We would’ve gotten home quicker.

  10. Agirl- Yeah, people watching WILL give one stories for EVAR!!!

Ed- Yep, and I’m sure the man upstairs IS watching over them!

Crucis- I can believe that… Slept in more than ONE airport over the years…

  11. UJ- You are correct, and EWR is just plain friutcakes, and that’s WITHOUT the passengers involved… 🙂

  12. Must be nice. I’m down in Mobile.

I got my “Alabama Welcoming Committee” today. Driving around in a rental Chrysler 300 with Virginia plates…

“Could you please step out of the car, sir?”

Apparently, failing to signal your turn at least 50 feet in advance, (no matter how slow you’re going) is a good reason to want to search your car…

      • Just read the story on his blog. I’m on the other side of the state. Not being nosy – just curious when notable bloggers mention landmarks with which I’m familiar.
