To ‘rah-rah American’ for the 9/11 Museum???

9 11 flag

According to the NYT article, that was the exact sentiment…

Michael Shulan, the museum’s creative director, was among staffers who considered the Tom Franklin photograph too kitschy and “rah-rah America,” according to “Battle for Ground Zero” (St. Martin’s Press) by Elizabeth Greenspan, out next month.

“I really believe that the way America will look best, the way we can really do best, is to not be Americans so vigilantly and so vehemently,” Shulan said.

Howinthehell do people like this get in positions of power to make decisions about how history is remembered???

I’d love for somebody to ‘splain that to me…

  1. How to they get in that position of power?

Buy a set a knee pads and a bib.

  2. There aren’t enough productive jobs for the number of use-less college corrupted citizens? The bricklayers, plumbers, and carpenters aren’t saying such silliness.

Maybe college should be labeled as dangerous for real thinking folks?

  3. No investment in their country or as my dad would say no blood in the fight. Everything given to them so they never understand the true cost. Everything is equal so nothing has true value.

    Piss on them

  4. LL- Probably… sigh

Earl- Good point, and I’m to the point that I believe they are indoctrinated, NOT taught real values…

    Gerry- Good point!

    WSF- I imagine so…

    Pissed- Agree!!!

  5. ARGH.

It’s one thing to *hide* behind the flag when you’re doing something unsavory. It’s something else to just love your country dearly.

  6. In order to have the title “creative director” you must have gone through at least six years of Liberal Arts University programming – and that’s the inevitable result, an embarrassment of patriotism because you’ve been programmed to equate it with “evil jingoism” – all patriotism without exception is vilified by the University Left except for: Mao, Stalin, Lenin and Che.

  7. It’s just the “America Last” crowd operating as normal. As NotClauswitz points out, they learn it in school. College is far less about learning useful skills than it is about indoctrinating students in the “proper” way to think about things.

I can tell you stories about my otherwise intelligent and full of common sense daughter and what she is “learning” in social worker school. The real world is going to be quite a shock to her, unfortunately.

  8. “I really believe that the way America will look best, the way we can really do best, is to not be Americans so vigilantly and so vehemently,”

I don’t even know what that means. *stabs skull with chicken drumstick*

I have a friend who works for a flag manufacturer in Arizona. After 911, they were working double shifts seven days a week and couldn’t keep up with the demand for American flags. Too “rah-rah” America? I beg to differ.

  9. This is the unfortunate result of too much liberal indoctrination and no love of country. As several of your posters have already posted. This person prolly got the job because he “knew” the right people and said what they wanted to hear. I am dismayed beyond words. We were attacked by Islam and we reacted like Americans. Now we have this surrender monkey advocating appeasement.

  10. JR- Yep!

    NC/TOTW- Yeah, you’re right… dammit!

    Mrs. C- Concur with all!!!

    Brighid- Amen!

    Bob- Excellent point!

  11. “the way America will look best…. is to not be Americans”

You fucking, sniveling, drooling little quisling! You deserve nothing less than hot tar and grade A feathers before being packed in a box and punted off the end of the nearest pier.

I’ve got a couple of hundred bucks in the new gun cookie jar. I’ll put every penny of it in a fund for Shulan to be locked in an MMA octagon with Ted Nugent and R. Lee Ermey. Anybody else in?

  12. Ed- Yep, soap box-ballot box-bullet box… And two out of three have already failed us…

BGM- Oh HELL YES! 🙂 But it’d only last 10 seconds… sigh

  13. Jenn- Nope, but then he’d have to give up the free cheese and high paying job and actually WORK for a living, assuming he could actually find a job…

  14. I would love to meet that man. I would also bring an extra leg, because when I put my main one deep in his ass, I’d need the spare to walk to the hospital so I could get the first one back.
