Isn’t ‘this’ special…

Just heard on the radio, now that DC has legal pot sales, there is a push to decriminalize pot holdings of 1 oz or less in DC. The mayor and city council are apparently ‘investigating’ how to go about it.  The rationale is it’s costing too many young blacks jobs “Because they are unfairly targeted and profiled, and are being charged at a rate of 8:1 to the white charges. And we all know ‘more’ whites are smoking that blacks.”

One wonders if BO will be lighting it up in the White House???

So anybody will be able to buy pot and get high, but you STILL can’t buy a gun…  WTF???

And speaking of buying guns, guess what the delay is on approvals in MD right now???

One day, several days, weeks, or a month???

So far, the agency has received 71,894 applications to purchase a firearm. The current backlog stands at 33,460.

Experts said that means the possibility exists that more than 33,000 people are eligible to buy a firearm before background checks are completed. Officials said those checks are done manually by five people, and the wait is currently 100 days.

Read the whole thing HERE.

Yep, folks in MD are hosed… But ‘legally’ they can get the gun after 7 days, if there is no hold (guess I’ll quit bitching about a ONE day wait because I always get delayed).

  1. This country has all but banned tobacco. And now there’s a push to lower the BAC threshold for DUI to .05. I find it odd that this same country has been inching toward drug legalization for the past couple decades. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it, but I can’t seem to.

  2. Federal Laws don’t apply in the Federal Capital? D.C. City Government is home rule? House of Representatives has nothing to say? Guess I didn’t pay enough attention in my civic classes.

  3. 1 day is as low as it is possible for any wait to be in this state… I need to vacate IL post-haste.

  4. John- Yep, lots of places are no smoking, EXCEPT for med weed… sigh

WSF- Nope!!! At least the DC gov doesn’t think they do…

    Scribbler- Yep, you do!

Marion Barry is right on top of the situation.

And I wish ol’ BHO would light up. He’d be less dangerous nodding off and eating brownies.

  6. Yes, we have a man who could never pass a security clearance to work as a volunteer at SCHOOL or DAYCARE, much less in intelligence work running the USA.

And how is that working out for us?

  7. while technically FFLs can release after 8 days, most still aren’t. there are select few which will release.

  8. I’m sure that on many an evening (including crisis moments) that little Barry is blazed out of his mind. Sort of the American version of Yeltzin?

  9. Stretch- One wonders, especially since DC is a FEDERAL DISTRICT, and smoking dope is illegal in a federal area…

Opus- Well, if he was in San Fran, no employer could check…

Laura- Yeah, that was the ‘point’ OMG THIRTY guns got bought and released to people that shouldn’t be allowed to buy ELEVENTY…

LL- Probably why we’ve seen NO pics of him at times…

  10. All Dc has done is decide that it isn;t a violation of municipal ordinance to possess, sell, buy, or smoke weed. Should be funny when DEA moves in and starts arresting people in DC for violating federal law.

The wailing and gnashing of teeth will be divine.
