Apparently Gen Hap Arnold didn’t want his old pilots getting killed by recruits or flying fighters, or dogfighting, or flying at night…
Needless to say, this went straight out the window two years and a bit later…
By 1945 the 23 year old Colonel with 50 missions WAS the old bold pilot!
Old & Bold is rare even today!
