And now it’s being called a ‘slimdown’ rather than a shut down. BUT having said that, there is this from Cowboy Byte…
Just before the weekend, the National Park Service informed charter boat captains in Florida that the Florida Bay was “closed” due to the shutdown. Until government funding is restored, the fishing boats are prohibited from taking anglers into 1,100 square-miles of open ocean. Fishing is also prohibited at Biscayne National Park during the shutdown.
The Park Service will also have rangers on duty to police the ban… of access to an ocean. The government will probably use more personnel and spend more resources to attempt to close the ocean, than it would in its normal course of business.

I just read due to the government shut down, they just took the Amber Alert missing kids site down. I guess those closing down Federal Highways is just around the corner …

I just saw, on the local TV news, that the fall crab season (think “Deadliest Catch”) will be delayed because some federal agency or other hasn’t issued its annual catch limits. That will drive the crab price up, and also increase the winter weather danger to the commercial fishing fleet.
Just another benefit from our kindly overlords …
They’re going to need a lot more police people to enforce the shut down and end access to ‘public’ land.

I suspect a rude awakening for the mid to upper level bureaucrats and Obama appointees; not from the public, but the rank and file in their own organizations. The rank and file live next door to the people being impacted.

Funny thing about the slimdown or shutdown.. Magically money appeared from no where to buy Vaccine Refrigerators for DOJ, and money appeared to pay a contractor to cut grass a national cemetary….. mysterious isn’t it?
To me the bigger mystery is why does DOJ need Vaccine Refrigerators?
