Gun sales, California edition…

It appears not everyone in Kalifornia is listening to Pelosi, Feinstein et al…

According to California Dealer’s Record of Sale there were approximately 818 thousand  guns sold in 2012.

Around 75 hundred applications in that same year were denied.

Right now there are close to four-thousand applicants on the waiting list for a gun permit in Sacramento.

And surprisingly nearly 30-percent are women.

It appears that not everybody (especially the women in Cali) are listening to the crap being spouted in the Bay area and Marin… They have realized they DO need to be able to protect themselves, and are making it a point to go get guns AND get training… And the 4000+ permits waiting should tell you something too!
Good on those ladies, and I’m glad they are stepping up and fighting to get the ability to actually protect themselves!!!

  1. Some of your favorite commenters (meaning me, Brighid, Opus, etc.) are from California. If you look at the last two voting maps by county for national elections, most of California was red/Republican. Nationally, the inner city hells voted for Obama and California was no different. Yes, it is the home state for Pelosi and other freaks. It’s also the home of Congressman Darrell Issa.

I don’t ask you to cut California one ounce of slack, however there are a lot of good (and armed) people in the state.

  2. All of the CCW classes around here are filled.
At our club we have a women only beginner class, and it is always full.
‘Course this in central valley, where we’re all ‘clingers’.

  3. I’ve been taking training classes since 2005, and instructing since 2009. I’m seeing a LOT more women taking training now, and not just the “First Steps” classes.

When I started, a woman was usually there with her husband/boyfriend/SO, and when a single woman showed up, it was usually because her husband/boyfriend/SO wanted them to know and understand about the guns *he* had in the house.

Now we’re seeing a lot of “unaccompanied” women taking classes. Some are doing it for curiosity, some for the husband/boyfriend/SO, but most of them tell us they want to learn how to protect themselves, and a firearm seems to them the best, most reliable way to do that.

And all of the “First Steps” women have gone on to take other classes, like Personal protection in the Home”, and even the “tactical” pistol classes.

It’s been quite a sea change in the few years I’ve been doing instructing.

  4. On a related note; the Ohio A.G.’s Office just announced that over 82 THOUSAND NEW, repeat NEW CHPs were issued in the first 9 months of 2013. Another 20,000+ were Renewed in that time also. It’s the biggest jump since 2012, where 75,000+ were issued for the year. If this rate keeps going, we should have 100,000+ NEW CHP holders by years end. Considering that Ohio has lost Population, and is Aging, there are per capita more Licensed CHP Holders than ever before.

Suck on THAT, Mickey Bloomberg and Friends!

  5. Les beat me to it. More people in Ohio are getting their CCW than ever, and these are people from all walks of life. Me, I’m glad to see it. I started packing my gat when I lived in the free State of Florida, and when Ohio belatedly passed a CCW law over the hysterical objections of Moonbats everywhere, I got my Ohio license.

  6. LL/Opus/Skip/drjim- I stand corrected… 🙂 But you REALLY need to get rid of SFO, LA and San Diego… just sayin…

Les/Mad Jack- I didn’t know that, thanks! That is GOOD news!

Ed- True, but I’ll take it…

  7. I picked up my CCW yesterday at the Sheriff’s substation along with 32 other gents……I live in the Central Sierra Nevada, our Sheriff and the Sheriffs in the neighboring counties are very pro citizen carry.

Rural/mountain counties tend to be more realistic (in my opinion) than more populated areas of the state.

An interesting note: it took about 5 months to process my clearance and to finally issue the permit.

  8. FOBS- Thanks, and I think you’re right, once you get out of SFO, LA, SD people DO tend to be more realistic!
