This ‘program’ was on Spike TV, so probably not a lot of folks saw it…

USS GETTYSBURG was sent TAD to the standing anti-piracy patrol last year for a few months of their deployment. Here is the last clip about 11 minutes about them taking down some pirates.

Doing good work a LONG way from home and hearth, with very little recognition (although these folks actually DID get some recognition).  Just another day in the lives of the sailors in the US Navy.

And you can bet the administration could care less, and the CO probably got called on the carpet for exceeding best speed for fuel consumption…

And we’re looking at more cuts thanks to sequestration that will probably hit in Jan when the budget (spit) doesn’t get signed and the CRs continue…

In other WESTPAC news, it now appears this administration has ‘decided’ to provisionally accept the Chinese ADIZ that covered the Senkakus, whose possession by Japan is disputed by China.

Top Obama administration and Pentagon officials signaled a willingness to temporarily accept China’s new, controversial air defense identification zone on Wednesday. Those officials expressed disapproval for the way in which the Asian power has flexed its muscles, and cautioned China not to implement the zone. But they also carved out wiggle room in which the United States and China ultimately could find common ground on the issue, indicating that they may be willing to live with the zone for now —

When you look at China’s stated goal, establishing an ADIZ over the ENTIRE East China Sea and Yellow Sea, this is a BAD mistake on the US’s part…  And honestly I find it unbelievable that Gen Dempsey would even agree temporarily to this… But he’s drunk the administration’s kool aid…

Mark my words, somebody or bodies are going to be shot down over this… Anybody remember KAL 007?

And it will have a MAJOR impact on the US military’s ability to operate in that region…

If this administration ties the military’s hands much more, we might was well concede the entire western Pacific to China and just pull all our folks back to Hawaii…

  5. We used to hang pirates from the yardarm. Too bad that practice has stopped. But Bravo Zulu to the captain and crew of the Gettysburg (CG 64) for their efforts and noteworthy success.

    As to China – Why wouldn’t Obama bow? He bows to everyone else.

  6. Great job you the crew of the Gettysburg, but sinking the damn skiff with all on board would have been better… especially if it was vaporized. “We never saw a skiff out there. I guess they sunk from mechanical problems, Sir.” Prove it differently.

  12. I think we all agree that obama’s knuckling under to the Chicoms is a spineless, short-sighted act that will only lead to more problems down the road.

    Just what we’ve come to expect from that SCOAMF.
