Almost Christmas…

Time with family is important to all of us this time of year, and more especially when one has to travel to get there…

It also brings back memories of holidays missed, far away places; ships, airplanes, bases, foxholes, as the case may be for those who served.

Luckily I have a chance to spend time with the daughters and the grandsons, although never as much as I’d like…

Grandson 1 playing with grandson 2.  Just a ‘bit’ of a size and age difference there…

And lastly, there is this…  Political correctness run amok again…

“Our equal opportunity representative stopped the briefing and told us that we can’t say Christmas,” the soldier told me. “Almost the entire room blew up. Everybody was frustrated. The equal opportunity rep told our commander that not everyone celebrates Christmas and we couldn’t say Christmas celebration. It had to be holiday celebration.”

And the Grinch is alive and well in San Francisco too…

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — Put away the chestnuts; the Bay Area Air Quality Management District has announced that wood burning will be banned in the region on Christmas Eve—and possibly on Christmas Day, too.

Almost Christmas… — 14 Comments

  1. What a great family and a great grand dog… Merry Christmas.

    • Selective hearing works well, but then they think you are deaf and if they just say it again LOUDER you will be converted. Yep, ignore the ugly there is so much beauty to behold.

  2. Suz- Thanks! And Merry Christmas to you too!

Ed- Concur, Merry Christmas to you and yours too!

LL- Yep, and the dog wins… ALL the time!

Rev- Agree, that is the way to do it!

Pissed- Merry Christmas to you too!

  3. The crap ends when you stop passing it on… my reasons never to visit California again don’t need more fuel. And listening to intelligent stupid people in positions of power and responsibility make fool statements like don’t say what you have been saying with hearty good spirits all your life – that is just another indicator that my blood pressure medicine isn’t strong enough. Like the family pictures, enjoy the good stuff of the season.

  4. Stretch- Good point…

Rick- Yep, and hugs are plentiful…

    WSF- agreed!

Earl- I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the kids. And I’m trying to convince them to leave SOONER rather than later… I AM enjoying the time with the kids though! 🙂

  5. Merry Christmas Jim! The nonsense will be there after the holidays. Enjoy your family! !

  6. Take one day and just enjoy the family. Stay off the news sites and keep the TV off. Just surround yourself with family, love and laughter. The rest will be there later.
    Have a wonderful Christmas!
