Stabby Thing…

Okay, I need some expertise… Stabby I’m NOT good at…

I ‘think’ this is a Japanese Model 30 from Nagoya…  Hooked quillion gave it away

No hangar, and it’s been used, but all original including the wood and the ‘button’ sheath… I ‘think’ it fits a Arisaka rifle.

I think this is the Nagoya Armory mark.DSC00885

Not a pristine blade, some rust…DSC00886

Looking for a good home for this, since I don’t have a rifle to put it on. Make offer… 🙂

Stabby Thing… — 16 Comments

  1. Joe- LOL, probably… sigh

Opus- I don’t and WON’T give ebay a penny of my money.

    Keads- Thanks anyway…

NC- See above. I’d rather sell at a cheaper price to somebody that actually needs it…

  2. My ex- gun-club buddy Jim collects Arisakas, but probably already has plenty stabby things. I know he occasionally shoots them with the stabby-hanger attached, for fun and to see where the projectile goes.

  3. I do have an ari, but it’s been sporterized.

That looks like a type 30,variation A, though I don’t exactly recognize the blade. Most of the type 30’s I’ve seen have had a dropped point, but they may have been over aggressively sharpened.

It is, as you correctly say, Nagoya. I have seen one or two fine Nagoya type 38’s, and if I had one that had an intact mum, you can bet I’d put that bayo on the front of it. Keep it posted here and unless you’re desperate for cash, I bet you’ll pull down some good money for it. Good steel. Probably a good Benjamin there.

  4. MC- Thanks!

Og- Thanks, and this one looks like an original point. Doesn’t appear to be a drop point and it’s the correct length (now that I’ve used y’all to go find it)

    Ed- Thanks!

  5. Yup, it’s an Arisaka bayonet Type 30. Nancy R. has an Arisaka that fits it, but even though her bayonet & scabbard is rather beat up, it IS the bayonet that was captured with the rifle. . .

  6. I had one that looked very much like yours, but…it was French. The blade had 1873 engraved on the blade with French stampings. From the date, it could have been a relic of the Franco-Prussian War. Or…maybe not. I found it in the basement of an old house we once rented. Someone stuck it up in the overhead joists.

    Interesting blade.
