Numbers Game…

As of this morning it was going to be 50 Marines to plus up the security forces in the Baghdad Embassy…

As of now, it’s 275…

Sacrificial lambs???

I’d be evacuating the Embassy and setting charges, but that’s just me…

  1. Two words: Document Destruction. We don’t want a re-do of the takeover of the Iranian Embassy, where tons of classified documents were patiently reconstructed or just plain captured as whole documents.

  2. The Big Zero is going out of his way to recreate the Carter era. At least Carter had incompetence as an excuse…

  3. It is truly sad that dedicated true professionals are being led by totally incompetence. It is a disservice to the pros.

  4. Rev- Nam all over again… Except the helos can’t make it to the carrier…

    Keads- It is…

  5. That would need a LOT of charges. According to Wikipedia (with source footnoted), the embassy in Baghdad is 440,000 sq. ft. Assuming that they are not considering the use of a nuke (not even Obama is that loony), they are already behind schedule and they don’t have the expertise on hand. I know Marines are quite good at destroying things, but IMHO this needs one of those firms that “collapse” buildings. Even then, some papers could “survive”.

OTOH, they could use fuel-air explosives, but that might result in considerable collateral damage to the surrounding neighborhood.

  6. It’s a goat rodeo. We all know who the clown is.

My heart goes out to the cannon fodder in Baghdad who know that they’ll be treated in much the same way as the staff in Benghazi was if things start to look ugly.

—and President Hillary will say, “What difference does it make?” as an epitaph.

  7. Put a 1000 Marines there and it does not mean squat if their ROE prohibit the use of deadly force.

  8. I would definitely like to see their mission orders and rules of engagement. My guess is it’s more of a “show the flag” thing than “defend the flag”.

  9. 55 gallon drums, thermite grenades, and diesel fuel will take care of the paper/flash-drives/etc.
Given the number of servers that can fit in a space 1/10 the embassy size I sure hope they brought LOTS of thermite grenades. Place one on top of a server. See if it burns to the bottom of the rack. If not, rinse, lather, repeat.
I pray that the “reinforcements” give their survival priority over ROE. I dare say 300 determined Marines will make a bigger impression on ISIS than the entire Iraqi Army.
As for the Charlie-Foxtrot-in-Chief … he told us he was going to “fundamentally change America.” I believed him and knew it was a warning, not a promise.
