Running around the South like a chicken with my head chopped off…
14 days off turned into 9, but I still have commitments to family, so…
Currently in Waco, slight changes have occurred to this plan, but in the main, still on track.
Between family visits, I’ve also managed to catch up with Snigs and family last Friday. Visited with family Saturday, then lunch with Borepatch, Differ, Coffeepot, and Charles (commenter, his blog is VERY technical); afterward I also met Mr.G on my way West.
Met up with Spear in Birmingham, along with MSgt B on Sunday, and more family on Monday in Louisiana.
Also got a chance for lunch with PawPaw in between family engagements. Tomorrow is more family stuff, then starting the slog back to DC… Sigh…
Butt is flat, and still about 1400 miles to go… Anybody got a rubber donut?
Oh yeah, the ‘good’, a new rifle, 2000 rounds of .22 (so far), including 1000 rounds from a Jewelry Store (with a gun store in the back)!!!
Sorry for my lack of commenting lately, but I’m either in the truck driving, or spending time with family.
A gun store in the back of a jewelry store. You have to love the South. You simply must.
Mobile easy, my friend.
Great road trip! So cool you are visiting some family and some of my favorite bloggers. Kudos to you! Have a safe trip. We will look forward to more posts when you return. Guns are always great. I am surprised you didn’t get a chicken along with that deal.
Safe travels!
Meanwhile I’m sitting in my office and looking at your road trip map going “man, I’d love to be doing that”.
When I was a kid we lived in Waco for a few years. My father was stationed at James Connally AFB, since closed.
As for the jewelry store/gun shop, hybrids like that are fairly common in small towns around here. Grocery stores sell hunting blinds and deer corn, mom and pop convenience stores sell ammo (not the big chains – think Beer, Bait, and Ammo), and ranch supply stores sell guns, ammo, optics, etc. And of course, every place sells camo…
Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Smooth sailing, I mean driving.
I live vicariously through you.
LL- Tryin…
Momma- No, but I did get some peaches… 🙂
Keads- Trying my best!
WRM- I don’t get to do it often enough… sigh
Tim- Yep, sorry I didn’t have time to get out to your area. Maybe next time.
Gerry- Paddling like hell! 😀
Ed- I feel for ya man… 🙂
After that 20 hour marathon drive to Colorado, I know exactly how your rear end feels!
Be safe out there.
Damn, too bad I worked all day Sunday.
Have a safe trip. Hope the flat butt syndrome is only temporary.
Don’t forget to give me a holler when you next pass through KC.
