Starting the slog home…

Ya just gotta love family…

The biggest rattler gets a place of honor in the family room… This one is right at 6 feet…

The ‘failures’ are banished to the spare bedroom… Guess where I got to sleep… sigh

And yes, those ARE deer heads in the kitchen, why do you ask???IMG_1753

It’s the only place in the house with enough ‘elevation’ in the ceiling to actually put those suckers up…

Coming back through the old homestead, I stopped to see some old friends from high school… and SCORE!!!IMG_1754

2500 rounds of .22 and 600 rounds of .30 cal M-1 in an unopened spam can!!!  After not seeing ANY .22 for sevenish months up in Northern Virginia, I’m a happy camper!!!

And if anybody needs .303 belted for a Vickers machinegun, 1962 still in spam cans, I know where there is some…

  1. Score indeed, you did very well. Rimfire here is still pretty scarce, but I did see some CCI Stinger for $6 a box so its at least becoming reasonable.

Is that .30 ball the .06 or carbine round ? Apologize for dumb question, I’m not up to speed with military can sizes, I’m guessing carbine. That is hard to find without spending a mint.

    Nice finds.

    • Durn, forgot to add above, the requirement for high ceiling for shoulder mounts is why European ‘skull’ mounts are popular. Plus (in my opinion), they look wicked cool! :^)

That is a big ‘buzzworm’, they give me the willies!

  2. How do you always find those deals? Seriously, I go to gun shows with you just to watch you find the one steal out of 600+ tables. You’re amazing. Now drive safe, and if passing through Nashville, stop and hit Jack’s BBQ–they’ve got three locations in Music City now, and while all are worth the stop, I personally favor the one on Broadway. Treat yourself, man: Jack’s BBQ.

  3. Good catch on the ammo, an the deer heads can be mounted anywhere in the house. Just hang them upside down and tell everyone they were shot in Australia.

  4. Score on the Thunderbolt. It may be cheap ammo, but runs reliably in every gun I have. I don’t think they make it anymore.

  5. I just shake my head. You do seem to be able to find the best deals or rarest finds every time you go looking.

  6. Hey Old NFO;

The decor of the house looks good…Like what some of my country kinfolks would have. You Did say 303 british?..I might be interested:) And enjoy the drive home.

  7. Robert- Yep, not too shabby… 🙂

j.r.- Yep, carbine… And Mr. no shoulders DOES tend to get one’s attention when he pokes his head up about 2 FEET!!!

Jenn- Yep, doing pretty good this trip… Hitting the little out of the way places and pawn stores…

    Buck- Tryin!!!

Rev- It took some dickering on the .30 cal… But it’d been sitting there a while.

Murph- Heading up there tomorrow, will do. And I just get lucky. Trust me I’ve MISSED as many as I’ve gotten…

CP- I’ll have to tell the Cuz that… He’ll probably do it too!

Ben- The T-bolt had dust on it…LOL

    DB- Haunting the little places…

Bob- Yeah, they have a beautiful house! Re the .303, they’re going to want way too much for it… belted and all- Holding out for a MG nut…

    Mrs.C- Nope, the spare snake room… 😛

  8. I’d be happy to score the .303. Between Mr. Vickers, Mr. BREN(and his 2 friends), and Mr. Lewis it’s been a little dry here lately.
