And Geraldo had to get his cheap shot in at gun owners, likening this shoot down to a child with a gun, saying something to the effect of how many people a child with a gun can kill… He really needs to grow the F up and check reality…

There will be indirect repercussions beyond Ukraine from this. US sanctions against Russia…Russian reluctance to back US in talks with Iran, action on Syria, support for Israel, upsurge of muslim action in those regions…..not good all round.
OK, what I could tell from the Bubbleheaded bleach-blonde who comes on at nine. (Who can tell you bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eyes.) Interesting when people die, give them dirty laundry.
So. What we suspect so far is that one of the insurgents either was able to steal from the Ukranians or was given a SA-17 platform. That individual mistook the airliner for a surveliance plane (like an IL-96 only without the honkin huge dish). Alledgedly there is intercepted traffic where an insurgent says this to a Russian General.
There are several issues.
1) Through mandatory military service (which, of course Geraldo “lets reveal where troops are and put them in danger” Rivera ignores) you have individuals who have been trained in the use and operation of the SA-17 AA battery. The SA-17 is a complex system and not something a child could accidentally operate.
2) The President is not likely to escalate this to a war. He will likely punish Russia some more with sanctions.
3) 295 innocent people died.
