Hey, at least you get that cool job with money and travel. That’s your reward for living so long that you have a skillset that no one in today’s military is old enough to have acquired.
(And those letters of reference from Rickover and Halsey and John Paul Jones probably didn’t hurt.) 🙂

No you don’t…In your present condition…you can tell them various things you couldn’t say while in service….In my experience the “civilian rep” can say thing to the chain of command, the regular military guy can’t and wished he could.
And the various recommendations from Nimitz, Wilbur and Orville, Moffett, and Eugene Ely does help.
I said many a time, make me a LT for life and just let me fly missions.
