Russian researchers expose breakthrough U.S. spying program

CYBERSECURITY-USA

Read the entire story HERE on Reuters…

If you don’t think the Russians are serious about ‘reviving’ the cold war, you’re wrong. Taking the Crimea back, the Ukraine, et al.  We have AGIs off Kings Bay again, TU-95s flying off various ‘friendly’ countries (USA, Britain, France, Spain, Iceland, Norway).

They’ve put a Russian SAG into the Med for the first time in years, and they are aggressively building new submarines, including apparently new SSBN types. And lets not even start on who they are supporting with arms and ‘other’ support around the world.

Personally, I believe they are taking FULL advantage of this administration’s wishy-washy (being polite) foreign policy.

YMMV, I didn’t stay in a Holiday Inn, IANAL; but you can bet your ass I’m taking a HARD look at my hard drives on all my computers…

  1. Russians in the Med? That reminds me.

In ’74 or ’75, Forrestal was anchored in the Med at Kythira Greece.

A Russian ship was anchored close enough to us that the bridge watch could see they were having swim call. And the current was flowing from us to them. The old man got on the 1MC and suggested that if anyone needed to use the head, we should do so right away.

The winds at Kythira were strong enough to launch and recover aircraft at anchor. Although the airdales said that it was right on the edge of enough wind to launch and recover a Vigilante.

Thank you NFO for sparking a long dormant memory into life. (And now I am mumbling “It’s alive, it’s alive!” and giggling.)

Ships in the ’70s had no CHT. Even in Norfolk the sewage went over the side into the water. You did not want to fall into the water anywhere near NOB Norfolk.

  2. I don’t think the Cold War ever actually ended. Just because we defeated ‘it’ overseas (The Berlin Wall, etc.)doesn’t mean Russians, whether CIS or USSR don’t think of themselves FIRST.
    Something they have always done.
Something we still need to learn!

  3. I reflect back on that unintended recording of Obama telling Dmitry that everything will be ok once he’s re-elected and Dmitry patting Obama’s leg and letting him know that he’ll convey that message to Vladimir.

No American should be surprised at anything that the Manchurian Candidate does.

  4. John- Yeah, Greece ‘was’ a bit rank back in the day… Piraeus just flat STANK…

GFA- Look at Putin’s background… He never gave up.

    LL- Exactly!

  5. “Personally, I believe they are taking FULL advantage of this administration’s wishy-washy (being polite) foreign policy.”

You are being way too polite. Having a foreign policy implies coherency of thought and planning. This administration doesn’t do that. It just reacts to whatever happens, kind of like a simple one-celled organism that mindlessly reacts to stimuli.

  6. Ed- Not me… 🙂

Tim/WSF- You’re right… sigh I try not to cuss on the blog dontcha know…
