Back in battery…

Finally…

“Hopefully” my last major road trip of the year. Two weeks and pretty much nose to the grindstone the entire time.

Sleep deficit is finally getting back to a manageable level.

In lieu of real content, Jace on his second birthday (Gah, TWO years already? Where has the time gone)!

Jace age 2 with firetruck

If you picked up on the smoke in the background, this is because PP et al had to evacuate because of the Valley Fire in California. Thankfully they were allowed back in earlier this week, and found everything was okay.

Sadly, they are the lucky ones- So far 585 homes destroyed and hundreds of other structures are know to be destroyed as well. Four small communities have apparently been totally destroyed.

Thoughts and prayers go out to those who’ve lost everything.

  1. OMG, Jace is getting so BIG. Before you know it, he’s going to be DRIVING the fire truck. Very cute boy.

Glad that the Hawaiians are no longer celebrating your opportunity to sleep with fireworks…

  2. Glad all is well with them. A few years ago we were put on evacuation alert because of wildfires in our area. It was nerve-wracking. Thankfully, we never had to bug out.

Second your thoughts and prayers to the victims, along with the fire fighters.

  3. Ed- Yep, at least ONE of the family is photogenic…LOL

LL- Yes he is! Me too!!!

Tim- Hurricanes/Typhoons… THAT I’ve been through, not fire though.

    Dammit- Thanks!

  4. They grow too fast.

California always seems to be burning, droughting, sliding down hilling, or shaking.

  5. PH- Yep, trying to get the kids out of there before it falls into the Pacific… sigh

    WSF- Me too!!!

    CP- LOL, not yet…

  6. They also lifted evacuation orders for Pine Grove and Wilseyville above Molulemne Hill for the Butte Fire – across the valley and up the hill from there.
Coming back from Tahoe on the R1100R, up over Carson pass and on the back roads the sky was pretty clear and smoke free, but the last two weeks was pretty stinky up here from both those fires. It’s why I have a ready bug-out bag.
