You asked…

Well, a couple of folks did email me…

Did I have anything to go with the 1918 Colt?

As a matter of fact, yes!

I present one 1918 issue belt, with medical kit, with 1916 holster.

1918 set 1

All original! I’m thinking most of this stuff, other than the pistol and mags went into a trunk or a drawer somewhere…1918 set 3

So that’s what ‘else’ came with the pistol…

  1. Wimmens can have their accessories – yours look much better to me. :^) That holster is in fine condition for 97 years.

  2. Every quarterdeck sailor & roving patrol on my tin can wore belts and holsters just like that. If we’d known how valuable they’d become … hey, waitaminnit – maybe that’s why they’re scarce now. They went home with the older Gunner’s Mates! 🙂

  3. Mr.G- Thanks!

    j.r.- It is!!!

LL- Just luck that I ran across it with everything included.

    Ed- That it is!

Rev- You bet they did… Who knows what’s in some of those old Gunner’s attics!!!

    WSF- Thanks!

  4. I can’t help thinking that the holster needs some mink oil, Sno-Seal or neutral shoe polish to keep it from drying out and cracking.

  5. Stretch- 🙂

Robert- It does, I need to find some mink oil. Thought I had some but… sigh

  6. Nice set. If you could only get them to talk. (Try waterboarding them.)
I always thought the duckbill hammer and (for me) easier-to-manipulate thumb safety made the old 1911 better than the 1911A1. But I could never cure the old 1911 of biting my hand and I could never bring myself to ruin a piece of history with a longer tang. So I guess the A1 is better after all.

  7. Shipmate, I have a WW1 Canteen, Cup and Pouch to go with that set. Not using them for Re-enacting anymore, so they need a “Proper Home.” Send me an eMail and we’ll work out the Shipping Details.

  8. Rick- Thanks!

Old 1811- Yep, I have those scars too!

Mrs.C- Not bad for 99 years young!

    Les- Will do!
