Tomb of the Unknowns…

One last video from Saturday’s visit to the Tomb. This was a Boy Scout Troop laying a wreath.

Interestingly, the bugler is known as Sergeant ‘B’ for bugler, as it seems they almost never get the same bugler from the Army Band twice in a row. Also, you’ll note the Tomb Guard is in the ‘phone booth’. This is the only time s/he’s allowed to leave the mat during their walk.

Thanks to all who commented, and yes, it IS a worthy stop if you’re in DC.

  1. If a person can’t sense the solemnity of that place, they have no soul. Every American should stay there – quietly – for at least half an hour; they’d come away changed.

  2. I can never hear Taps without chills running through me. And to be there and hear it… Something everyone should do, yes.

  3. I have always wanted to go there. It would be an honor and solemn at the same time. Taps makes me choke up every time. Heard too many times at police funerals.

  4. Visited Arlington when I was a lad. RFK’s grave was still fresh.

  5. Hey Old NFO;

    yep Taps still choke me up…for that matter the Star Spangled Banner does it for me also. durn dust and I am goad to see a Boy Scout troop doing the honors.
