I think most of us saw this last year…

Turns out there is ‘more’ to the story…
From the Dallas Morning News, he’s filing a lawsuit over the fact that the dealer didn’t remove the decals as promised, and the poor guy has been getting death threats, etc. since…

It’s an interesting ‘trail’ as to how the truck made it all the way to Syria.
PPP was telling me one of their old ambulances is now in Africa, still in her company’s livery…
I was reminded there is a company out of India that apparently buys used medical ‘equipment’ and then resells it in various third world countries. I don’t know that ‘I’ would want to ride in one… Just sayin…
When one of my cousin’s daughters fell out of a tree and broke her arm in Uganda earlier this year, they wanted to send her by ambulance to Ethiopia. My cousin said they took one look at the ambulance, and hired a car and driver for the 28 hour round trip in a Land Rover.
He said it was slow and uncomfortable, but they got there and back in one piece.
Now that’s Full Service Plumbing!
My old Ranger pick up went to Columbia. The guy who bought sells ship loads of little trucks and vans in South America
I’d like to re-import the truck (intact) just to park on my driveway. Who can object to a truck designed to clear the pipes parked there?
I once did business with a Siberian (don’t call me a Russian) 500′ fish processing ship owner. From 1983-1987 various diesel powered small pickups and cars were available in the PNW. I had a weekly ad in the “Little Nickle” shopper offering to buy them. About three to four times a year the Siberian pulled into Seattle or Tacoma. He would load the vehicles on deck and head for Siberia.
My neighbors loved his visit as my 1/2 acre back yard would get a little crowded.
Ed- Isn’t it though! 🙂
Gerry- Yep, especially Toyotas!
LL- Why not… 😀
WSF- OH yeah, they were notorious for that. I wonder how much THEY got for them in Siberia?
All those “Cash-for-Clunker” vehicles?
The law stated they were to be destroyed.
Just don’t ask what they were doing on the pier in Dundalk, MD.
Stretch- Exactly… sigh…
Hey Old NFO;
That would be some funny story on how stuff goes from here to there….but I do feel bad that this guy did get his livelihood ruined. Part of me thinks that the dealership should have removed the advertising, but any sane person knows that the truck would get auctioned off ASAP and truth be told…you don’t trust somebody else to handle your business.
It never would have occurred to me to pull the decals myself. Who would want anything with old company decals on it? Then something like this happens.
I don’t quite know what I’d do, but changing my name and relocating come to mind.
I was pretty sure after I worked in Guatemala that all US school buses go there to die.
