Seriously, though, I didn’t know about the poverty one. Thanks.
Amen, Jim!

My dad was born 30 Sept 1903 and the Wright Bro’s flew their historic flight on 17 Dec. He lived through that past walking on the moon. And the thing about the poverty rate, throw in the population explosion, especially in the poverty zones, and it does say something about some nations trying to get the word out there about education.
DB- LOL!
gfa- Agreed!
CP- That it does, I can imagine he had a few ‘stories’ too! 🙂
My paternal grandfather was born in 1876, but passed away in 1960, before I was old enough to ask questions about the history he’d lived through. He traveled from Vermont to Missouri in the 1880s in a covered wagon, and served in the Spanish-American War, for heaven’s sake – what a treasure trove of memories he’d have had.
We went from horse and buggy to the moon within many people’s lifetimes.
We went from party lines to smart phones and from the 57 Chevy to cars that drive themselves within many people’s lifetimes.
The examples are replete – but are we better people for it?
Education and Capitalism is what made the change in Poverty.
‘Twasn’t socialism, nor communism….’Twas CAPITALISM.
The only constant is change.
My grandfather was born 23 Sept 1903 (pre Kitty Hawk), my grandmother was born 29 Sept 1904.
Both could remember the first time they rode in a car. My grandmother remembered seeing the Graf Zeppalin on its round-the-world flight of 1929.
I remember discussing this with them while we watched the Apollo 11 Moon landing (July 20 1969). We then went outside with binoculars to look at the moon – not because we expected to see them, just to see if we could identify the landing site. It felt odd to look at the moon in the sky, and realize that there were *people* there. And that the first powered flight happened a few months after my grandfather was born.
Things have changed a lot in my lifetime.
I was born in 1954.
Some good and some not so good
