Dammit…

I truly hate it when crap that I’ve written about happens (again)…

This is part of a chapter from The Grey Man- Partners.

After dinner and catching up, Clay and the old man were enjoying a piece of pie and a cup of coffee, when Trooper Wilson walked in, along with Sergeant Michaels. They took the table next to them and quickly ordered, then Wilson turned, “Captain, it’s good to see you up and about. I hear you are back on duty.”

“Michelle, Mike. Yep, back on full duty and playing catch up. Y’all been busy?”

Wilson shrugged and Michaels laughed, “It’s early yet, Captain. You know how Fridays can get around here. It’ll either be feast or famine. I’m kinda hoping for famine.”

Wilson chimed in, “Hey Sarge, you only have to follow-up the paperwork. Us grunts are out here doing the work. And famine would be nice. I’ve been getting writer’s cramp lately with all the tickets we’ve been writing.”

Clay and the old man both chuckled, and Clay asked, ‘Michelle, what are you doing up here? You usually run ten, not twenty.”

Michelle smiled, “Catering to my boss,” pointing to Michaels, “He’s going off and I’ve got an hour before I actually go on. So I’m sucking up.”

Mike Michaels spit coffee laughing at that, and started a retort when a panting disheveled truck driver came running over, “Officer, there’s something in the parking lot you gotta see. I think there’s a problem.”

All four of them jumped up and followed the driver, catching bits and pieces of what he was saying, “IDC trucks… Hand… Ain’t movin’…”

Coming around the last row of trucks, they looked up and sure enough, there was a hand sticking out of the vent door at the top of one of the IDC truck’s trailer.

That chapter was based on the 2003 incident that took nineteen lives, and I hoped that incident had put an end to that crap, but yesterday it happened AGAIN! This time in San Antonio, link HERE.

I cannot fathom how desperate people must be to pay the $5-7000 to be smuggled across the border then stuffed in a semi-trailer. What is absolutely worse, is the coyotes who do this crap, not caring whether those people live or die, since they’ve gotten their money up front.

I can only offer up prayers for those who died (again), the LEOs and fire rescue that had to work that scene, and hope that some of the survivors are willing to drop a dime on the coyotes who killed those people. As far as I’m concerned, this is one of those cases where the Biblical eye for an eye would be appropriate. Lock the coyotes in a same kind of trailer, for the same length of time, in the same temperatures. If they survive, they go to prison. If not, too bad, so sad.

If we had a real border, and real enforcement, these people would still be alive, probably still in Mexico, but alive. I find it ironic that all the media focus is on the truck driver, NOT the coyotes who perpetrated this horror…

Have we become so inured to these kinds of death that they don’t even move us? Or is it the fact that they aren’t anyone we know? Or is it because no one wants to speak up, knowing the SJWs and their ilk will somehow blame US for this?

Dammit… — 17 Comments

  1. Down here in south Texas, they find many bodies of illegals in the brush who were left behind or ditched by their coyote smugglers. You are right – they’ve already been paid and don’t care if the people live or die.

I think that a lot of blame can also be given to the Open Borders crowd, who encourage the people to come in the 1st place.

    • Open borders crowd AND advocates for sanctuary cities. They all have blood of the victims on their hands.

  2. And, sadly, it was a REEFER that they were locked in, just not running.

  3. Where’s Mexico in all of this? The Mexican government that is. They know this is happening and do nothing to stop it so it’s obvious they want those people gone. Then Mexico does not have to fund additional infrastructure for them. Hospitals, schools, healthcare, food, roads, water and power. Plus the ones that get up here make money and send most of it back to relatives still down there. That money is then spent in the Mexican economy. It’s like Mexican gets loans from us with no pay back or interest.

  4. It bugs the crap out of me that they are calling it a case of “human trafficking” like they are bringing these people here to work as slaves or prostitutes – NO, they are ILLEGAL ALIENS! And calling them “immigrants” – NO, they are ILLEGAL ALIENS! So totally FED UP with this crap! And the arrogant attitude of most of the illegals around here – anywhere they congregate, like the flea markets and such, they bulldoze through like they own the joint, running into people on purpose, letting their kids run wild through the booths/shops, and stealing like there’s no tomorrow! One of our local “flea markets” is in a high tourist area and the vendors are losing so much merchandise to the hispanics they are considering quitting. I’ve quit going to those markets – it’s just too infuriating to be bumped and pushed intentionally and no real way to do anything about it since you never know how many of them will jump you if you say anything to them.

    • Unfortunately, if the episode I had to work is any example, many ARE brought here to work as slaves and/or prostitutes. That having been said, I agree with the rest of your comment.

  5. The smuggled masses are called pollos (chickens) and their lives are circumscribed by luck and the ability to fork over a few thousand for the trip.

Life in the interior of Mexico and in Central America is not the life that tourists in Mazatlan or Puerto Vallarta see. Running water is a major luxury in much of Mexico.

Illegal immigration has always been the safety valve for Mexico. The desperate flee north rather than causing problems at home. That’s why MEXGOV doesn’t care. They’d rather have them up here, dead, than down there, fighting for better conditions.

And you’ll note that there aren’t any Indians in government. Only Europeans and the very occasional ethnic Chinese. The Indians have very little voice beyond the city government level in Mexico. I’m not crying “racism”, just pointing out that the dead people from the truck are likely all of Indian ancestry, thus, expendable. Most have a very inferior education and are treated worse in Mexico than we’d treat cattle up in the US.

The Narcos treat the Indians badly in Mexico, too. I could go into detail, but it’s your blog.

  6. I’ve read your grey man series, great job. The US needs to adopt a more humanitarian role, and close the border hermetically so these poor people don’t die of dehydration, starvation or suffocation at the hands of the human trafficers.

  7. Somewhere I have an old aviation cartoon definition of “Cuban Eight*” as “The number of escapees who can fit in a Cessna 152.” That was kinda funny. What’s happening down state is not funny. I’d loooove to see some of the two-legged coyotes turned over to the families of the dead and the survivors from the truck.

*A Cuban Eight is an aerobatic maneuver.

  8. The Presstitutes and the Elites of the USA are never going to change as long as they can continue to make money and get power from the use and control of illegal aliens.

Sure, close the border, but also start going after companies and individuals who hire/own these people.

And as to Mexico, cut off the flow of money from the illegals to that diseased country. Hammer them with the same sanctions and legal mumbo-jumbo they use against us.

Hell, have the State Department threaten to declare that failed state persona-non-grata (and really mean it) and watch the government jump through hoops to do whatever they can to keep the almighty tourista dollars flowing.

  9. I saw that on the news over the weekend and thought of that chapter in your book. Then I heard yesterday some CEO in CA of a company that provides labor to farms admit that they have been encouraging illegal immigrants to come north for years, and knew that the company was being given fake ID documents just so they would have the warm bodies to send out to the fields to work.

It is folks and companies like that who will continue to turn a blind eye, or worse, that are the reason so many of these people will risk everything to come over the border for work. Many of them don’t want to stay, they just need to make some money. The company CEO admitted they did it to keep the cost of labor low, that in order to hire Americans, they would have to pay more out.

Someone needs to get creative with financing, put a stop on the remittances going south, and give a hard look at the folks who are on welfare because they “can’t find a job” and send them out to pick crops. Give them lots of water, a big brimmed hat, a lunch and have them learn how to pick beans, cuckes, lettuce, celery, onions, whatever…bet they find a “real” job PDQ.

But don’t mind me, I’m just a grumpy old lady.

  10. All- Thanks for all the comments, can’t disagree with anyone… Dammit…

    Posted from my iPhone.

  11. Hey Old NFO;

I saw that article on “Drudge” and immediately thought of that chapter in your book and thought “Damm, Jim has ESP: or something like that. I can’t add anything to what your posters have already said and they are spot on.

  12. I really hope there is a special place in Hell for people who do this to other people. If I was King of the World, coyotes would all die screaming in a crotch fire!
