YGTBSM!!!

Clapper, Brennan, Comey, Rice, et al…

The left is blowing up about these people ‘possibly’ losing their clearances… My question is, why in the hell do they STILL have one?

When you retire from the military, or get out of a position with government that requires a clearance, if you are a peon, you IMMEDIATELY are terminated from all access. You don’t get to keep them, even if you’re going back to work the next week. You have to start all over with your ‘new’ organization, and be sponsored all over, with all new requests for access that may or may not be granted. And wait up to six months… Or longer…

Do not pass go, do not collect $200, etc…

But these ‘senior’ people supposedly get to keep their clearances as a ‘courtesy’???

In what rational world does that make sense? How come ‘they’ get to keep theirs and we don’t? We actually DID things that produced ‘things’ for the government. But you retire, you’re no longer ‘important’ to the organizations.

As far as I’m concerned, they should be terminated immediately, just like the rest of us. It’s that whole goose/gander thingie…

Sigh… I need to go back to the Doc and get my BP meds upgraded…

  1. 100% agreement, they no longer ‘need to know’ what the current occupant’s do. When I leave my employment in our office, I leave my key to the office with them. No explanation necessary.

    • While it’s more in basking in the Schadenfreude of the current Worldcon mess, I already have the rye. Though bourbon would certain do, too. Preferences, is all.

  2. When I left the USAF, my clearance was canceled. So was my father’s when he retired from the AF , as was my grandfather’s when he left the Army and he was in Intelligence! But these ne’er’do’wells in the “government” get to keep theirs? I’m calling Bull Hockey on that and hope to Hades that Trump REVOKES their clearances AND bounces their collective butts right out of Da’Swamp!

    • The Left now exhibits a pavlovian reaction to ANY action on Trump’s part. He could be raising the dead by laying on of hands, and they would go ballistic. Should it become known that he prefers Shredded Wheat for breakfast they would probably try to arrange a boycott of Nabisco, and some fool would go on television and pronounce that Lucky Charms would be more Presidential.

The outrage has little to do with the action protested. Maybe if they were more rational they would get excited about this anyway; they do love their Ruling Clique Perks. But this is just piddle and wind.

  3. All of us little people turned in keys, badges, safe combinations, etc., and got read off everything classified. You didn’t know anything, and you keep your mouth closed, period, stop. And since you signed a paper agreeing to this and understanding that you can be prosecuted for talking, the government can and will get you.

Time to give the self-selected big people a big dose of this medicine. Admiral Byng treatment is in order. The little people would watch and cheer.

Arrgh, the sun is nowhere near the yardarm, and I really want the dose of medicinal bourbon now.

  4. These people should be terminated alright, but not the way that it’s generally done in the US of A.

    • Yup, been there, done that, got the coffee cup.

  5. Why are you slandering your betters? If you doubt it, just ask people like Comey and Brennan if they’re better than you are (more precious and special) and they’ll tell you. They’ll explain how enlightened they are. That alone gives them the perque.

    • Silly, he’s an American. He doesn’t have betters. If they were lucky, they might be equals. They ain’t either.

  6. We are certainly on the same page. I had thought about posting some of this but glad you did.

  7. All- Thanks for the comments, but bourbon? Really??? Good scotch… sigh

    Posted from my iPhone.

  8. It’s what allowed Sandy Burgler, I mean Sandy Burger, he of the magic pants of holding, access to ransack the national archives and remove papers that would have indicted his ex-boss. We don’t know how much actual proof of stupidity by Billy Jeff was lost during those ‘research’ forays.

    • Do not get me started on Socks Burgler. Just din’t. He ruined archival research for a lot of us. Rat b@stard. (With apologies to four-footed rats.)

  9. Rand Paul had a money quote over the weekend, “In this town when you leave a position with an access card or parking pass you have to surrender those as you go out the door, why the Hell do these people still have security clearances?”

  10. I am an old Army Security Agency guy – 1966-70, we had Top Secret crypto clearances or something like that. We were in Germany working inside a free standing building built inside an old 1930’s Luftwaffe hanger and we only had access to our assigned areas, no need to know what was going on in the rooms next to us and all that. When I signed off to leave I signed what we called 10 & 10 which was an understanding that saying anything or writing anything about our work could cause us to spend 10 years in Prison after we paid a $10K fine.

I don’t understand how anyone could have a clearance that would allow them to go browsing through Secret stuff and there is no reason for any one who is not involved in an ongoing activity to still have access to covert information but, what the hell do I know?

  11. Hey Old NFO;

I also had a clearance and I was read off and lost access to my clearance. Apparently there are different rules for us “Dirt people” and the cloud people. President Trump needs to strip the clearances from those paid professional hacks.

  12. I suspect that people at that level are considered to be “assets”, and if the nation requires that asset to be utilized, they have to have current access. In addition, there is a lot less people in that category, so they should be easy to manage, security-wise.

I’m pretty sure that is the reasoning they would fall back on, but it really comes down to the “old boy’s network”, backscratching, etc.

  13. I moved from DC to LA and my clearance downgraded on my next BI because I didn’t “need” the once I had before, even though my job classification stayed essentially the same and my GS level actually increased. They told me straight out: “You don’t work in DC any more and don’t need that level of clearance. I still do the same work elsewhere though. But people who don’t EVEN work get to keep theirs because Obama? Come on…Working in his office should preclude anyone from ever having a clearance again just because of that.
